hi softies. i wanna get a lawsuit les paul but i dunno which one to choose from and i need some recommendations. i wanna play blues and classic rock. seen most of them but i've heard alot good stuff about tokai and edwards. tokai seems a little more expensive too. i wanna get my hands on this one http://72.14.235.104/translate_c?hl...%5E%5E&usg=ALkJrhh72zrBenfSJXZVIOA3QuAfev4_7Q it comes with seymour duncan antiquities. any comments or recommendations are very welcomed! thanks!

Most of them are readily available to try and to play. Edwards have the advantage of having Seymour Duncan pickups already installed.

I might be biased owning a Edwards, I feel they have a little something extra over the competition.

Try a few of them and also get familiar with the way the Japanese number their models. Again they have like 5 different ways of making the same Les Paul and one will cost more than another.

If you need help with the Edwards numbering system I could help you out abit. Burny and Tokai should be available in Davis and Yamaha.

Edwards is not a lawsuit guitar. The real lawsuits came from 4 companies. Burny, Tokai, Greco and Ibanez. I'd say the most valuable ones to date are the ones from Ibanez, and also, must be made in the 60s/70s. Probably worth more than $5k each.

If you just want something accurate enough, then I'd suggest the edwards, because that one is definately a great bang for the buck.

thanks for the quick replies! ok jony, i've read that as the numbers go higher on the edwards models the prices go up too right? how does your Lp-98 sound? the one that i'm interested in has seymour duncan antiquities in it. shreadcow, do you know the price range for the tokai's? cos i'm going to japan at the end of the year, wanna do some homework first.

IMO you can't go wrong with any of the MIJ copies.. I myself own a MIJ Epi and its quality and make is flawless..

Nope. No idea.

Take a visit, check the prices and grab the brochure. The fella imports them in from Japan too - if you want any model.

lifeless ...nice epi dude!! I was looking at one on auction but no fund to grab it ...next time !!!
Btw big fan of these Jap made LP's as well .... i consider them replicas that kill the original.

Get Edwards every time, better than Gibsons. Been playing 25 years and had them all.
Do yourself a favour and but online from Japan, save you a few bucks as well. I bought the Jimmy Page model, has all the switching etc, cost be S$1500. It's 2k in Guitar77 and no switching on these models.

yeah man nice epi. oh ya i wanna ask. your jimmy page model has the super switching is it? heard it has like coil tap and what not. looks like i'll go and try out the edwards. wah i saw the prices for the navigators, can compare to the gibbys man. sicne i'm going there i'll save on the shipping, and i think i dont have to pay for tax too right?

burnys are damn good too,my burny is much better den any les pauls ive played, of course, its a vintage mij one.. heh

Well imho Navigators r totally out of range if u r on a budget, but if u can afford it, u will realise that it is worth every penny u paid for it since they r really masterpieces made with rare and expensive quality wood (totally pawnz Gibson Historics). But if u r looking for something that is friendlier to the wallet yet with quality close to Navigators, u cant go wrong with Edwards afterall they r all under the ESP umbrella, sister companies.

Personally i own a Edwards LP with the satin nitro finish (gives it a slight relic feel), fitted with SD 59' & JB, and beautiful close to book match flame top that are really nice for me in terms of tone, playability, and fit & finish (pawnz Gibson LP standards). It kinda feel & sound nicer and the neck is smooth instead of the familiar stickiness of the poly lacquer finished version. Total bang for buck, but u shld also try out the MIJ Epi if u can still find one since it is no longer in production, tried my friend's LP standard refitted with SD Alnico 2 pros and i must say........TONE HEAVEN as well!
