This is why... Vai is a friggin GENIUS

yeah balls, shredcow you are right. :D

I love him dude. Awesome, just that sometimes it really takes a while to appreciate his kind of experimenting music, but yet I am sure he gave a hell lot of inspiration to people like us.

i was intro-d to flex-able in 1988 by a metalhead who was also into the roadrunner/shrapnel records guitar albums. an education in fusion rock begun. I like Vai alot, more for his mentality and awesome vision in music.

personally i just steal off the happening licks and move on. call it jack of all trades or whateva u want, just dont end up another clone.

i like vai cuz his songs, they mayb appear to be simple to play, but he has a hell lot of feel behind it.. and even when he shreds, he can sometimes stop and hold a note that has so much feel...

Vai is the man man!!! OK i admit some of his songs, esp the studio arrangements one are abit dif to appreciate, haha but guess we didnt grow up listening to zappa. But the things he does really throw me off while listening to it... I mean, i was smiling to myself suddenly while listening to his album in HMV...

He plays with so much emotions, and he expresses himself thro his playing. N also he is damn gd lah in terms of skill, n pulling it off. He is extremely humble, and is always wanting to improve and learn even when he is like a guitar g*d.

I like his tone alot man. to me, satch tone is a little thin, but vai has his signature fat tone, alot of saturation man, not just gain. n his clean tone is also great, lets u hear how clean n precise his playing is.

I always still am amazed when i listen to Tender Surrender and whispering a prayer, so much feel. N reaper is another song full of energy.

Unfortunately I can not view the videos. However, I just wanted to post that Steve Vai is amazing and one of my biggest influences.
