Ok, we know Metal isn't just metal itself. It's defined clearly by catergorising it in sub-genres. What is one that you will never turn away even if you're on a 'pop music break'?

Discuss. And vote. Lets see which is the genre that SOFT Metalheads crave for.

something ala deicide or cannibal corpse
heavy and aggressive
something to cheer me up on a moody day

I voted Death mainly because of Melodic Death which i still consider part of Death Metal.
I enjoy Deicide, CC, Dying Fetus and the new crop of American death metal bands on Unmatched Brutality, Willowtip Records and Unique Leader Records. Though it's hard to decipher which is which...
2 thumbs up for Melodic Death for me... Kalmah and Amon Amarth are 2 consistent band of this genre that I'm proud to say that I'm a fan of.

and those 'ohsocool' kids that open a mixed genre of their songs in the bus/train

Hmm... From my own findings. and from what i hear, In Flames doesn't seem to be producing the kinda Melodic Death Metal that they did in their earlier releases especially "The Jester Race".
As an admin to a group on facebook, "Global Melodic Death Metal", i've seen how the confusion of In Flames's music could cos 'stir up a hornet's nest' among fellow Melodic death metal supporters.

From my point of view, despite their change in direction of music, their still considered one of the earlier bands who defined Melodic Death.

At The Gates and DQ are considered pioneers.

Hydrofly, speed metal gave me a little confusion. They are usually together along with either power or thrash. Besides, maxium poll choices is 10.
I wanted to put speed with power like how i did for Folka nd Viking.
Correct me if i'm wrong.
