The Stratocaster Appreciation thread

Nice! New one eh? Strats are vunderfuul

Ever thought of changing the pickup selector cap to white? Might look a lil better, but that's just me...

Ah, this was the one that Andrew from G4C sold me.. I don't consider myself a good player so buy secondhand one first ok lah.. :) Still learning...

The electronics all new though - brand new CTS and fender pots, fender switch, switchcraft jack, wiring, caps and fralin pickups.... the white knob didn't fit the selector switch so Goose left the black knob on.. I thought it looked quite nice actually so I left it on.. :)

The guitar sings very nicely. Very happy with it except for the slight fret wear caused by the 3rd string from previous owner. The action was also very low when I bought it but Goose adjusted it just nice for me.

You forgot Sonic Blue, Fiesta Red and Butter Scotch Blonde... whahahaha...

butterscotch blonde aint chanmin's thing...IIRC.

I will have a 52RI tele in my arsenal eventually. It's not that outta reach I guess, but it's not a priority guitar at the moment.

strat on strat action....ON! Such activities require the use of a top-end camera/lens, and since you have it, let's get it on...

Indigo_blues, how do u keep ur strat so shiny? I got the same one in black but it doesnt seem as lively as yours.. Any special technique u used to take tat shot?

very very pro camera... i think. SLR?

Haha actually its just a Nikon D40. Very acceptable pics.

The trick is to use natural light(lots of it!).

The guitar sleeps in a Fender hardcase every night so I guess that helps to keep its shininess.. lol.

Thanks for the comments!!

How to make an old guitar shiny?

And is there anyway to remove that unsightly rust/tarnish frm the bridge and saddle pieces..They look ugly when i take close ups.

indigo_blues:
very cool! i'm into photos too...

hey... rusty strat parts are glorious... lol. but i still like immaculate ones more... to complement my dream sweet tone..

OT abit. haha

Kev, what lenses do you have on your D40?

and btw, thats one real real nice strat.

hhaha. i dont like dirty metal parts.. not only for guitar.. applies to everything else.

So is there any way to clean it up and make the guitar shinier?

Pardon my noobness

OT abit. haha

Hey James, thanks for the compliment. :) Actually its just the standard kit lens. lol.. If you go to dpreview, they gave the D40 very high marks, even the kit lens.. thats why I got it. Its very good. :)

Like I said, lighting is the most important aspect of photography. Focusing accurately and composition are also important. You want to play around with the focal point also(eg. wide or tele). Keep in mind the color composition as well. :)

How to keep the body shiny? You can try some guitar body polish.. can buy from any guitar shop.. keeps it very smooth and silky.. :) For metal parts, erm, not sure.. lol.

For metal parts, i use autosol. BUT. BE WARNED. AUTOSOL EATS OFF LAYERS OF YOUR CHROME PARTS.

I'm contemplating moving into DSLRs(Im on a crappy hp photosmart now) and was talking to geraldkoh on cameras and he told me to give the Nikon d40 a try. Thinking if i should make the investment.

Ill try to get u guys pics of my bro's strat later.
