I wouldn't guarantee anything, given that guitars are made quite differently from one another. In general a heavier headstock would give you more sustain.
Remember though, sustain is not always favoured, depending on what you play and how you play.
Its exactly the same as the stock pickups I had except w/o hums & the output i find it to be relatively lower.
if u r a fan of raw vintage sound, this pickup set might appeal to u. it doesn't seem to appeal to me. i thought it was quite fantastic, but maybe im still into modern sound. im playing with it everyday to get the hang of it (although i m aleadi looking for much hotter replacements for this pickups).
i've changed my strat pups to hs3 (bridge) and two seymour duncan class stack plus for both neck and middle. They are noiseless and still retain the traditional single coil sound. A normal single coil on the bridge is way too thin souding or sharp whether it is on clean or distorted. For rhythm on clean, we would usually use the 2nd or 4th position. So it would advisable to change to a humbucking single coil on the bridge to off-set the high treble and thin sounding when playing on the bridge.
hmm for myself... having been playing with the kinmans .. i do find the bridge pickup extremely usable. Most single coils will tend to have the nasty ice pick. But having used humbucking singlecoils and other noiseless offerings before.. id really live with it and roll off the tone then to lose the strat twang in the 4 and 5 positions.
The true single coil really comes to live when you plug in direct ... it really inspires one to get all tru-bypass pedals and tone coloration becomes frowned upon like its syphilis.
What i do to overcome this is to use my BBE sonic stomp to match my direct to amp tone. If i do feel its still lacking that sparkle and beef i'll kick in the xotic rc booster. BB preamp will come soon as soon as mr misse stocks come in!!
been gasing real bad for a set of john suhr v60lps ...anyone have a set for sale??
- the reviews/clips/vids are absolutely mouth dropping.
i been looking at a cheap strat to mess around on, and so far the SX ash series tops the list.
as for the squiers, the only main difference between affinity and california is that affinity has alder and california basswood body right?
