I bet you, the pup will thrash not only Dimarzios, but Duncans too. In terms of sounding more complex and "alive". 8)

Yeap, 4 conductor wiring.

OH MAN.
I just realised my setting on the Sansamp Classic was kind of wrong. Hahahaha!!!

Looks like I have to re-record stuff.. need to do some raw rhythm/lead stuff. :P

hey shredcow, post a high gain rhythm track of the viper pickup if you can yeah? the lesser mid concept is exactly what i'm thinking about...i'm tired of having to scoop for clarity, especially with heavy assed strings. how are the harmonics on the viper, does it squeal easy?

will be PM'ing you soon about a certain SSH s series

I will man. I assure you, this Viper kicks hard when doing rhythm. Its dynamic, not too compressed, so when you dig in hard while doing chug, you can feel the air pulse.

And it screams like no tomorrow. Not quite as good as an Evo bridge lah, but come on, can't have everything aye? ;)

Man. I am waiting.

And what about the Hellion? Fatter and more output, yes!
I wish you had that too so I could try it out at your place.

Here's another clip of the Viper. Clean, clean soloing, distorted lead tone, then rhythm work with different levels of mid boost.

Again, gear like so:

Clean rhy:
Sansamp Classic

Clean lead:
Sansamp Classic - Demeter Mid Boost

Distorted lead:
Hellbilly - Screwdriver - Classic - Mid boost

Distorted Rhythm:
TS9DX - Screwdriver - Classic (starts from least mids to most, 4 levels)

so the Sansamp Classic is always on then.

I thought you mentioned in other thread that you don't like a pedal that is always on, because it means your tone is dependent to that particular pedal?

I'm sure it'll rock.
After hearing the Viper live, I was already kinda sold.

Plus it's only about 50odd bucks more than a Dimarzio.

I went to dan's place yesterday to try out his viper, and it was GREAT. It's a very weird pickup, because it's very dynamic. When chugging it's not as tight as my JB, but when it's loud it sounds very nice. I loved the chugging at first but when we lowered the playing levels because dan's dad didn't like the noise I realised it was a little loose, wooly according to dan. What really blew me away was it's leads. The midrange is aggresive, yet pleasant. It sings. I can't really explain in words cos I only heard it once but I know I was blown away.

The note clarity on the viper is amazing, which dan demonstrated it on his setup. He could strum weird chords and all the notes will come out clearly and not mushed together. Now on clean, it's very clear, and the eq is very balanced. This makes it very nice for strumming, picking, unlike my JB, which has a lack of bass and low-mids.

I'll be getting one maybe next month. I hope it complements my jazz.

Everyone who has tried the Viper is basically sold on how good it is... its just boils down to individual tastes. 8)
