I recommend Suidakra as a good death metal band. From Germany. They're awesome. But it's strange that they sing about Celtic folklore. >.<

From symphonic black metal fans, Diabolical Breed and Svartthron are awesome. I have something against BM made in USA though. The likes of Blasphemy, Morbosidad...

A little metal news for today...

Metallica has won the Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 51st annual Grammy Awards. The Grammy's are being held tonight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. METALLICA was nominated for the track "My Apocalypse", from the band's 2008 album "Death Magnetic". The group has won eight Grammys, including five for "Best Metal Performance."

The nominees in this year's "Metal" category were as follows:

DRAGONFORCE - "Heroes Of Our Time"
JUDAS PRIEST - "Nostradamus"
METALLICA - "My Apocalypse"
MINISTRY - "Under My Thumb"
SLIPKNOT - "Psychosocial"

Ok, I'd say on that list, only Ministry, Judas Priest and Slipknot are metal, and only Judas Priest is 100% metal. Ministry diluted it with techno influences, Slipknot desecrated metal with hip hop influences. Evidently the stupid judges are not metalheads. Judas Priest is the only true metal band on that list. Studioforce should be able to nail their songs live before I even consider calling them metal.

I agree. Sometimes I think the guitarists in Dragonforce are too attention-seeking, the way they like to drive their playing to such extremes in the studio that they cannot duplicate live. No offense. With power metal, there're a number of bands that I'd recommend over Dragonforce. There's Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica. To me they're just much more musical than Dragonforce.

This is my personal opinion so don't flame me for what I think.

i totally agree with you. i'm not a big fan of power metal but, the songs written by Dragonforce get abit old for me. yea they seemed awesome at first with songs like Through the Fire and Flames, but after listening to their other songs, they sound the same. i don't know if it's just me but, that's what i hear. long extended solos and what not. but then again, it could be me

Finally! Racer X! The first 2 albums are the killer ones! Street Lethal and Second Heat! Nothing can beat the tightness of Paul and Bruce's harmony leads(maybe Marty Friedman and Jason Becker). But by far most Racer X fans find Superheroes to be the best album.

I think for metal, there are few bands people should listen to..

Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Megadeth
Testament
Pantera

the genre of metal is quite wide along those bands.

If we are gonna talk about metal in general, there will be too many to list... NWOBM, Thrash Metal, Speed Metal, Power Metal, Groove Metal, Death Metal, Melodic-Death Metal, Black Metal, Glam Metal, Hair Metal, Neo-Classical Metal.... WAY TOO MANY!!!

I personally think Slipknot is a good nu-metal band and I'm an avid black metal musician. I don't think Slipknot actually has hip-hop influences...

theres this band called sexmachine guns..they are good too

and about dragonforce.. i prefer the old dragonforce.. i mean when they were not dragonforce.. during their dragonheart years..
their music were much better then. i mean their music were original(without using u noe electronic2 sound)..
valley of the damned album is still okay.
sonic firestorm is ok ok la..
inhuman rampage is like too mainstream alr..
