well i'll give you a better explaination.
worn out look can be done with either using sand paper or hammering.
i'm not kidding...
if you look at SRV's no.1, it is due to many times of dropping it on the floor and hitting it here n there during his acts or practices.to simulate that you can actually uses hammer and a sharp screwdriver to chip off some of the parts you think that will give that classic worn off look. after its chipped off you'll see the bottom primer colour.. and of coz the chipped off part wun feel smooth n nice to touch.. infact it will even allows more parts to be easily "peel" off. Paints works in that matter.. onces there is an open wound,it'll spread if not taken care of.. so the next part comes with sanding! use grits like 600-1000 to achieve your desired smoothness.Warning, dont be a Gundu and sand off all other polished sides! Unless you are aiming for a diy matt finish. Well Fender did reproduced SRV No.1 before but their method isnt like what i've mentioned, they use superb painting skills to dublicate the exact worn off parts and colour. The method i juz said wun allow you to do so..
Next! if you are looking for the WGB sg worn out kind, that can be achieved with a patience sanding down the paint until the bottom primer colour is shown. or again, you can do wad esp did, a fake painted worn off.
Hmz how about malmsteen? yeah sure you love those coffee added colours! some people will tell you to soak your plastic parts in coffee and some will tell you soak in some chemical... so how abt the body? the body will still look new! here's my method.simply bring your axe under the afternoon sun!the UV will do the job! it'll looks great but the result wun be that fast of coz.. infrare red lamp willl not help in this case!
Any other questions?
Hope this helps.
Above methods are to be done by professionals and if you failed while trying,it just proves that you are not a professional!
