Well, if you happened to receive good customer service from a certain staff, then enquire your stuffs through them in the future ;)

i don't believe in the 'customer is always right' philosophy. if the customer is wrong, then s/he is plain wrong (the shop could be wrong as well). in the name of the shop's goodwill, they will be cordial with this wrong & everyone would be happy

My only peeve now with SL is this chinese dude at the BB showroom. Not Adam, this chinese dude just started out, if I'm not wrong. He knows nothing and his attitude sucks balls.

Other than that, I've always had a pleasant time in either SL showrooms.

^ there's a guy who's exactly like that in the BB showroom too. might be the same guy but i always thought he was malay. :S always hanging around the pickups counter. doesn't know anything about what he's selling.

^ i know le. u guys are referring to the same guy. he's chinese. looks a bit like malay though. haha.. yeah his attitude leaves much to be desired. oh well.

not only does he have a poor attitude but he appears to know nothing about anything in the shop. he had to get another salesperson to attend to me when i enquired about pickups.

to those SALES people who are just starting out, IMO there's no harm admitting you lack the product knowledge & ask the customer for assistance pertaining to description etc. i ever did encounter such individuals (not from SL) & his doing so actually made me respect him more.

I think Swee Lee have improved a lot these last few years compared to 10 years ago.Recently, I went there to buy a new product and the sales guy was so helpful in trying his best to demonstrate this new product to me. I did not buy it immediately because I think I need to find out more information. He advised me to find out more info from the website before buying because the product is still very new in the market. Of course there are one or two whose EQ is not so good. Actually, our approach is also important as well. I have met a woman who wanted to buy a guitar effect for her son but the son did not really know what he wanted. The woman was questioning the sale person
how come he did not understand what her son wanted.
Those who complain please be a sales guy and you will understand why sometimes doing sales is not an easy task.

how do we respect such customers?

Im not suprised this thread is still alive... complains/appraisal threads are alway very popular. Anyway, my recent trip to swee lee was a good one ( sims drive). I was browsing around for a new guitar, wanted to test out some Gibsons, theres this guy there willingly let me test it, infact he even demo'd few of them to test out the sound differences. Bear in mind, this is Gibson guitars, and i didn't even said i want to purchase.. just try out first.

My previous trip was not to bad also, bought an epiphone home.. spotted some flaw and went back to them. Theres this manager there served me and helped me out trough the whole process.

So i guess dont let one bad experience spoil the whole thing, bad service or not .. they are still human afterall.. if all of them is realy that bad.. they wouldnt have survived 60 years in Singapore right?

i'm not inclined to favour any shops at this point in time because none of them paid me to do so.

i'm asking everyone to open their eyes (& minds) & evaluate service based on specific occurrences/ incidents. yes, the shop's goodwill goes into disrepute generally due to the employees' actions, as such, reputation is in effect an entire affair, not just individuals. if we are quick to put down a shop based on the individual's performance then what about the rest of the employees who excel in their customer service?

i'm still sore with a particular store here who cheated me (product related) & gave rude remarks upon confrontation but i still patronize that store, i prefer being served by another salesperson when i'm there. i don't say the store sucks as such because i know it's the person concerned.

so your point is we have to pin point the individual sales? instead of saying the shop sucks?

We can start a new thread for that

we don't have to pin point anything/ anybody. just acknowledge the primary cause- don't blame the entire book for one rotten page. a new thread for this would imply a personal agenda against individual which should not be the case.

Actually i think that the customer service at the Bras Basah SL branch is pretty good. People are willing to help. However, at the Sims drive side i have met some Staff that are rude and impatient.

I beg to differ. As a service staff, you are expected to deal with customer queries, no matter how inane they may be. You CANNOT hang up on them without checking if that's all they want. That, as thread starter said, is rude.

I've worked in service before so I understand that there are very silly requests (I've had my share of them). But you STILL HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE POLITE.

Hanging up like that - def not polite.

Personally, I've only been impressed with SL service once. It was a female, she did answer every single question I had. The last time I had someone who had a who cares attitude when I asked for the pricing of E-Bows.

He was standing just in front of them in the counter and he was doing his books, and couldn't even quickly pick one up to give me the price, made me wait until he had finished a few minutes later. I'm sure, peeking down, looking and telling me would have only taken 30 seconds.

Oh well, it takes all sorts and too bad about SL's sort...

I believe in such circumstances, it isn't always the fault of the company should their personnel give customers bad attitude.

However nonetheless, it is still the responsibility of the company to ensure that such behavior is corrected.

Personally, my visits to Swee Lee haven't been the most pleasant guitar shop tours I've had, not SPECIFICALLY because their service is bad or because they 'rip off' people, but because of a summation of a whole lot of factors which include personal preference.

I'd rather be at a much smaller guitar shop with much less products to view but with staff that make me feel at home.

(that still doesn't mean that they are a bad company)

hey i went to bras basah just now.

i think think their service there is great.
the new trainee there is supah friendly.
its all good. maybe its the ones at sims drive. hmmm
