Swee Lee sale that fantastic meh?
Price quoted for @ Swee Lee for Roland SH-201 S$1,200 (best price after that er usual 40% discount).
Price quoted for @ Tom Lee (HK) for Roland SH-201 S$770 (a whooping 35% discount).

(note: the sale at Tom Lee is on already and you don't have to queue like mad just to get limited numbers of an item at a special price.)

ps - I happen to be going HK for X'mas. :D

Newbie here so I won't want to step on anyone's toes but why are you comparing prices given overseas and here?

Its not like everyone here is rich enough just to travel to HK and get the stuff there just cause there's a sale. Sure seems like prices from SL might seem steep to you but f that man. Its good enough there's a music store here and its just a pity there's not more of these stores around. But don't compare prices from HK to here, market is too too different. And plus airfare and etc, money wise we might even have spent more if we were to travel all the way to HK to get whatever that was on sale.

well, sometimes people buy not to sell but its cheaper overseas, so u can enjoy a good holiday as well as get ur gears.. why not?

i m heading to the States next summer.. if u guys need any stuffs, feel free to pm me.. i'll repost again..

lifele55

It's not only the price.
Some of the members here also experienced
1) better range of product @ Tom Lee (can vouch for this)
2) better service at Tom Lee (ditto)
3) the amount you save may = 1 holiday in HK.
4) travel to HK is not a big deal in this day & age of budget travel - even HDB aunties travel like no body's biz to HK, BBK, China, Taiwan.
5) if I were to use USA as an example instead of HK, then you may have a point. :D

Lol...ok valid points.

Still wished there were bigger/more stores here though so there'll at least be some price competition to get buyers to go to their stores instead of others.

Hell yes, i do too lifele55. But simply put, many makers think that Singapore has too small a market for multiple suppliers, so they just want 1 in the country. Its true u know and its just sad. Maybe u cld opt 4 a holiday in HK say to visit ur relative then go get ur gear at same time. And lowjk, have u ever thot that price may not be a problem but time is. I mean, u go HK for a single day jus 4 gear? In HK, u also need to sight-see, which takes up valuable time. Some ppl like students may not have the time and therefore are unable to go there. The bottom line is, if u can, go for it. If not, nvm and jus wait or jus buy frm here.

Hmph, how do u know? Only the SL top brass actually know. Lets not jump to conclusions plz, it only causes more confusion.

lowjk,

I have seen big music directors from Bollywood (India) buy their gear to setup their studio from Sweelee / City Music.

The reason being, Singapore regarded as best technology hub compared to Middle East (Dubai). I had difficulty in finding gears in Dubai when I was there for a year.

Singapore is far better in that. Also the biggest Studios (Costing millions) in India are setup by Singaporean Companies. All this business have been taken as advantage when they price their items. So I presume that the price tag fixed in Singapore on Branded Music Equipments are for those big guys who afford more....We are real sufferers.

Again my request to local dealers is..please give us a reasonable pricing.

info: I bought Roland Fantom X6 from Indonesian dealer for SGD 2500 with Free Stand and KB bench delivered to my home...Sweelee quoted 3k on that after usual discounts but no freebies !!!

Hmmmm...........thats new. They usually give vague comments but have never actually outright denied it...hmmmmmm looks like maybe ur right.

ok...im quite new here....but just to spice things up a little...is there even anything worth getting at swee lee????

why is everyone so fixated on the sale?
