suggest a guitar (preferably ibanez) for a noob? $500+

just refers to the body's depth, that's all... Les Paul for example has a thick body, the Ibanez S-series has a tapered body edge, giving it an illusion of being thin.

talking abt cort guitars, this is are the ones i would recommend too. the katana series. i saw them at swee lee. the black one (kx1) cost $650 list. the blue sunburst one (kx1f) is $700 list. the prices might change tho. check with them. there is coil-tap at the tone knob. its got 24 frets too. neil zaza's nz1 is modelled after this but it is of different wood type. i have not played them yet, maybe sub can test drive these beauties and do a review. the good thing is, they are set neck, and heeless. so easier to reach the higher frets. think the ibanez sz series. btw, ibanez korean made guitars are made in the same factory as the cort koreans.

uhm replying to the rg350... whether it is good.... my answer is that it's reasonable for its price.... but i dun think so you should work with a floyd rose for a first guitar man....

the SA series still has a vibrato bridge but not a locking model though. if you choose to whammy with the SA, there would be tuning issues if you do not maintain a well-lubricated nut & proper string coil at the machine heads. however, if you choose not to whammy & treat it like a 'fixed' bridge model, then it's a splendid guitar to own. FYI, Eric Clapton has a vibrato bridge Fender Strat but he chooses to ignore it, even blocking it with a wood wedge in there so it stays put 8) some SA models to check out:

Yo subversion.. How much is the SA120?? It does looks tempting..

Bling, you should go down and play some of the guitars first... Invite some of the more experienced SOFTies down to help you out.

I'm sure if they are going down to Swee Lee, they wouldn't mind. ;)
