suggest a guitar (preferably ibanez) for a noob? $500+

i used to have a floyd rose guitar. Restringing is easy, but its the tuning afterwards that made me tore out my hair!!!

but then again, im fickle minded, i play in D standard when im happy, Drop C when im angry, and E standard when im sad, so im gonna stick to fixed bridge guitars :p

SA is quite ok lah... nothing fantastic... It can qualified as a good beginner guitar though (provided the pickups are upgraded)... and I don't really use a whammy so I am using a fixed bridge guitar... (whammy too troublesome for beginner like myself).

If I not wrong u want something light right? but what type of sound u aiming for or what music u play?

I am using an ibanez sz320... u can check it out...

i 'aiming' for rock sounds....but yeah im so noob tt i have to ask arnd for suitable guitars lol..cos if i go buy aimlessly i sure lau kui one..haha dun even know one chord at all lol

dun worry about having to lau kui or something everyone begings from that stage! maybe you can ask some of your friends (even if they only know a chord or two) to go shop around with you? lol i dun mean to advertise but you can try shopping at level 2 allmusic in park lane i'm sure the staff there will be more than willing to slowly explain everything u need to know before buying a guitar to you....

hah ic..read ur thread bout ALLmusic shop. the service sounds hella gd..maybe ill go there(when i get my pay) haha so they'll recommend stuff to u?

the RG350/ 370/ 320 all come equip with a floating bridge mechanism which is quite a handful, when you re-string & tune thereafter, especially when you are new to the electric guitar. however, if you insist on having such a bridge, you can always return to the shop where you buy it from for a re-string/ re-tune service, charges apply accordingly. IMO- not worth it because re-string/ re-tune is a user manageable procedure.

if you don't whammy at all, then choose a fixed bridge guitar instead. fixed bridge Ibanez units which are worth considering are:

*GSZ120
*SZ series
*RG321

if you are willing to stray from the Ibanez limits, the Cort M200 is more than a bargain for a beginner.

Yeah my friend(a girl too) got a Cort. You should check out stuff from Cort and Aria and stuff.

My look on your situation

1) Go every singapore guitar shop at Parkmall, yamaha, penin, excelcior, bras basah and aljunied

2) Look at those guitar with fixed/classic tremolo, see price

3) Then list all your choices

4) Then come back here and ask for our opinion

You see, if you ask straight, you might see something you like later at a different shop for around same price but you would have already purchased the ibanez.

err....ok... i dont have time for that lah..haha

subversion-SA nt included in that recommended list ah

the SA series still has a vibrato bridge but not a locking model though. if you choose to whammy with the SA, there would be tuning issues if you do not maintain a well-lubricated nut & proper string coil at the machine heads. however, if you choose not to whammy & treat it like a 'fixed' bridge model, then it's a splendid guitar to own. FYI, Eric Clapton has a vibrato bridge Fender Strat but he chooses to ignore it, even blocking it with a wood wedge in there so it stays put 8) some SA models to check out:
