String for Strats

Hi guys,

What's the best string to use on a fender stratocaster? Currently, i used the bullets but it tends to get rusty easily and don't stay in tune after using the wham bar. Pleae advise, thanks.

There isn't really a best kind of string for strats per se, it's more of personal choice or preference. Things like gauge, feel, tone and stuff like that are pretty much subjective. :D So try out as many strings as you can and find the one that suits you the best.

as mero said, but personally, i like GHS boomers. their tuning doesnt really run, and they last for a reasonably long time w/o rust, provided u wipe down the instrument after use. if u want non-rusting strings, get coated strings, davis sells em at 18 or so per pack.

DR strings... absolute best I've ever tried... Excellent QC, lasts long and have an interesting slinky feel to it.

Which shops is selling the DR strings?? N how much is it?? :)

Davis. Abt $8.50 a pack for the normal strings... $18 for the coated strings.

Be warned, coated strings, although they last much longer and give you consistant tone/feel over time, has reduced harmonic response and overall less bright tone.

But the normal strings... ahh... a dream to play with... some don't like the feel though, kind of easier to bend with them, like there's less resistance, In anycase, these are the only strings I've had that, upon re-stringing my Floyd equipped guitar, I only have to strum a few chords, do a couple of bends, retune, lock up, DONE. No need to fret about stretching strings or what not.

Thanks Shredcow.. Normally.. Do people use the GHS fast frets at the guitar frets itself or use it on the strings?? Does it really helps to make the frets more smoothly?? I'm really confused about the fast frets..

I've never heard good things about the GHS Fast Frets. Use for strings, NOT frets... but well... I have not used it myself due to so many warnings against it. I'll let someone who knows the facts to elaborate.

If you want to use something to extend string life, get the DR Extra Stringlife formula, available at Davis.

Is that a solution or what?? You use it by wiping it to your strings huh?? Me curious lor..

fast fret is oily... and thats what makes ur strings last longer... -_-"

its very effective... i'm using it and hey... i used to restring y guitar once every 2 weeks with those d'addarios but now my set is like lasting for 2 months already... everytime i wanna play it i wipe it with a piece of tissue and then use fast fret on it and wipe it with the provide cloth...

it becomes super smooth and makes sliding a damn breeze... when i wanna keep my guitar... again i use the same tissue to wipe it down real hard each string and use fast fret on it and wipe it again with the provided cloth... very good so far... haha

yea it's oily. if you shred too fast your fretboard will catch fire.

hahahahhhhaahahhha!

yeah, i tried the fast fret before. its oily and slippery. sometimes its difficult to bend as the strings keep slipping. but some ppl swear by them. i wipe my strings clean with a dry cloth after playing, so it rust less. btw, i used Daddario XL's. a bit hard but cheap n good. $5 a pack.
