Hmm.

Maybe what you need is a tweaking in your pickup height? After all, tele pickups are supposed to be very cutting, but trebly at the same time. and I should know :wink:

Only dabble in after-market pickups if you have the moolah or if you feel that your stock pickups (after many patient attempts at tweaking both pickup height and amp / pedal settings) do not cut it. No pun intended.

jumpman, tried the Fender Texas Specials? They are overwound SC, used by SRV. Nice warm cleans but not exactly screamming but gives that extra ommph, sounds sweet when crunched Some of the jap strats and teles that G77 sells have these pickps, can go try them urself

damn...i have a Tgm guitar...plan to change the crappy pickpups to dimarzio and seymour duncan...worth the change guys?

I would say..... if you can tell the difference, then go for it. But if you can't, no point wasting your money.

A good way would be A/B the different sets of pickups. Get someone you know that have the pickups. Check the open mic section...

change from crappy pickups to better pickups of course got difference. however, I feel that wood quality of the guitar makes a bigger difference. if the wood is lousy, you wouldnt hear that much of a difference even if you swapped the pickups out for something better. afterall, pickups pick the sound that is "reflected" by the wood no?

TGM might be good might be bad. in most TGMs that I've tried, I think that the QC is a little bad. woodwise........ I dont know cos I never bought a TGM before. who knows, you might have a gem of a guitar.

on this topic...where can i get dimarzio pickups from? im planning to change my stock pickups to a dimarzio X2N on the bridge...

im also looking at seymour duncan invader and EMG 81 and 85...both can be done at davis, but where is dimarzio?

Certain pickups also work well with certain woods.. So gotta take that into consideration..
The Seymour Duncan catalog is one such example which matches pickups to the wood the guitar is made of..
