Standard of music , is it going down the drain?

You want first class or world class (whatever you call them) sportsmen or artists, feed them. And if you want our musicians to be good, give them properly salary,so that they don't have to worry about minute things, hence more room for creativity. It's that simple

indeed indeed, give money to them and make sure they are all 23 and above to know how to think before talk. If not our band music scene is not going anywhere...

Its up to the bands seriously if u ask me. If they choose to lean back and listen to what they play, try to make it better everytime, the quality will be better. All we can do is to hope more bands can improve their musicianship voluntarily.

If not ah, i guess progress will be slow. Good luck to all bands who try to make a difference!

Cheers!

Well,it's all the mindsets of musicians.
Make a survey in soft itself. How many treat it as One of their hobbies? You will be surprised there are so many.

Fact is you can forget about pushing hobbyist, they will never commit to improve in a band, and you don't have to push serious musicians.
Eitherway, both are wasting each other's time. Its the worst scenario if you got both in the same band.

Hobbyists can be "serious musicians". Taking that most are hobbyists (me included), I'm pretty sure not many want to be known as not "serious". And "hobbyists" can be committed.

Another point - many "hobbyists" have higher standards and skills than those who are full-time musicians as their main source of income (ie those who are not hobbyists). Look around SOFT and you'll see hidden talents everywhere.

So I agree with partially with you - it's in the "mindset". Not so much as to whether the musicians are full-time or hobbyists.

Every Musician Who Become A Great ONE in the future went thru with all this stages of Playing this None Sense and from there, they mature musically but only very few of them.We must give them a time but we must highlight to them what they're lacking. But We know a lot of them are very PRIDEFUL.and don't have ears for your advise.
