Being a musician in local scene is hard guys..I've played quite a few gigs..Still no change man...so wad u guys think..izit bcoz of the goverment or just the spore ppl..

just do it.

gig a lot. practice like shit. get good. play at the right places. get noticed. cut an album. quit your day job. tour the world.

seriously? if you're willing to suffer that bit for music go ahead. cause it's not a good life for a musician here yet.

Wah....So many threads on this sia....

Musician here....Future is bleak.....Dunno why, but its super hard to progress here....Blame it on the pop culture we live in, the government or whatever you want.....But the truth is sad....

set goals. just go towards it.

things change. a decade ago, nobody dreamt of F1 or a casino here.

who knows, you might be the next satriani. the ac/dc of the 21 century. no one knows for sure.

passion is passion.

HAHA

Make album at those Local Bands record.

Snakeweeds? BlackIsle?

Then have good contacts with BIG BIG names.

Maybe Radio/tv etc etc.

Then yeah! they help you thru their Media.

I wish my band can be featured in 987Home .. weeee!

first of all, get good. nothing comes without hard work

start out playing covers at public gigs. get noticed. play even bigger gigs. get even more noticed. cut an album

at all times keep busy and keep improving

best of all, you can do all of this and become the best local band in history, and you may still fail. hence you need alot of luck.

Have reasonably nice songs which appeal to the masses.

Promote your band well (helps if members have distinct features)

Make sure everyone in the band has the same goals and are willing to work for it.

you got it wrong...

walk on the MRT track with a bag of peanuts...
instant exposure...I seen people do that and got famous..

only the really devoted, dedicated and determined will survive here.
so if that person is not up to it, don't take this path...

go join project super band or singapore idol. that's the only way.

your music must be sale-worthy also, playing non-mainstream music is purely for the fun and love of (insert genre here).

Personally, i'd say your playing has about only 15% influence on the almost non-existent success here.

watch my name is earl. then watch prison break. then watch heroes. then watch da ali g show. then watch seinfeld. then watch cheers. then watch becker. then watch friends. then watch frasier. then go and make music.

confirm famous.

jus go get yrselves a copy of The Observatory's A Far Cry From Here & hear the truth, the beautiful truth!!!! We are there, just a matter of whether this wretched world wants to accept this fact!!!!
