splitting speaker signal

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could help me with this. See I'm going to be running a setup like the following:

headbone-vt-3d-setup-w-logo.jpg

The guitar's signal is split into two, each output going into a separate amp.

The thing is that I don't have the space nor cash to buy a speaker cabinet for each of the amps. So I will be running both heads into a Mesa 4x12" with stereo inputs. However from the Headbone, the speaker output has a single line. This single line will go into my attenuator, which has a single output too.

I was wondering if there was anything that I could place behind the attenuator to split into two lines to run my cabinet in stereo. I've looked at the Morley ABY, but it's explicitly stated not to run it in a powered speaker line, anyone have any suggestions? Also will this even work? Does splitting the attenuated output ensure that a clear attenuated signal is put out?

What I'm looking for is something that will allow me to run two heads in stereo through a stereo cabinet, any suggestions? I've looked around other forums and some guys say that using the Headbone doesn't make the signal stereo, and that I should buy a Boss CE-5 to run the amps in stereo instead. Any thoughts on this? Thanks a lot for your time.

Hmm, that does exactly the same thing as the Headbone though, but will it work for speaker signals? It's not from guitar to amps, but from amps to speaker. Doesn't say anything on the website though. Thanks a lot I might drop them an email. :)

You just need to split the amp...and run it's speaker out to the split(stereo) 4x12's.
Whereas on the headbone you have put em in loop into a common speaker out.

Is this what you want ?

^ yeah that's what I was going to do, then I realized I would need to put an attenuator between AB and LR. I know there are stereo attenuators out there, but I spent quite a large sum on my Air Brake so I was wondering if there was a way to split and converge the signals, as my air brake only has 1 input/output jack.

dang i was wishing it wouldn't come to me buying another one. >_< I was looking at this though: Ultimate Head Switcher. Expensive, yes. But it may tidy up my rig, and allow me to use my air brake for both heads, which would save me quite a bit of money. Not sure if it can do what I require it to though.

so true. wow this is a headache. =/ i guess the easiest thing to do is get another attenuator, or not run attenuators at all. my neighbours will not be pleased.

i might actually run my rig without an attenuator tonight, and see if i get any complaints. but really, you can't blame me if my neighbours do not enjoy the wonders of metallica. =/ anyway thanks a lot for your advice, i'll look into those.

although i'm using a dr. z now, it'll be really hard selling that.

Ohhh.. Their Air Brake? Haha..

I was thinking of the same question as you, regarding using 2 heads but 1 cab..
I'm lucky you posted this up!

Maybe you can use THD Hot Plate ... i use it ! and it works wonderfully . It has speaker stereo outputs and also another line out, isnt it amazing ? go to their website and check which would suits your head as they have different OHMS

has anyone tried both the THD and weber? the prices are roughly similar, a comparison would be nice? still bummed out that my "booteek" attenuator doesn't have any frills =/

I'm using the THD on both my Marshall Plexi head and also the little giant Blackheart ... this thing is a miracle bro.
