Slyvester sim, my guitar hero.

at least say arranged by jerry C mah... i didn't see it so... aiya wasted...

very rare to see solo guitarist on national tv... haha shit...

Obviously Sly's targetted audiences are not guitarist. He is obviously trying to capture the heart of non-musician or non-guitarist.

He is just another boy band kind of artiste. So try not to compare with Jerry C or others. It will be a failure.

Just leave him alone.

To all those who are unhappy about Sly's few minutes on tv, let's take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

In a way, the so called "local music" is very much like the political situation in singapore. we are small, lack of talents, not supportive, rivalry among ourselves, keep complaining, dont improve and not in touch with what the people want!

in order to grow bigger, we need to wake up. every little step forward, with the bigger picture in mind, we know we will succeed.

some of the yesteryears young punk like myself has penetrated the mainstream and working our magic to lift up the "local music" dream. you can see there are more gigs, more music shops, more media coverage, more people wanting to play music, more music school, more recording school ... more of everything related to music.

for those who believe in the "local music", help support this dream. you will decide if we will have a better "local music" scene tomorrow.

no offence man, but i really cant see him as having any talent. if you define your sg talent to be just a person who gains fames over materials rather than music skill, den i have nothing to say. there are sg talents, no doubt, but somehow they dont end up to tv although they deserve to. rather we get someone who cant play well and claim credit over someones else work.

is this the talent you want us to support?

hmm.. there is one of that vid on youtube with dosent tally properly. well cant said he suck.. coz it will be impolite. but hope jerry C dosent see it. its humiliating..

pr0n, yes. he is the kind of talent I want to support.

i support those whom others do not. this is why i set up SOFT. really.

if given our limited size of talent pool in sg, we are still selective in who to support & who not to support. can i pose the next question - how do we even get to promote local music & make it expand?

food for thoughts~

I support artiste with talent even if it means that they are playing mainstream music, or genres which i dun really dig into.

I do not really support sly because i feel ( in my opinion) he cant sing for nuts.If you are talking about supporting him as an advtising TCS/TV artiste, ive got no objection but in the context of an aspiring musician? Sorry i dun think so. I`ve known his ex-band L`zfier personally even before he join sg idol and all i can say is that his contribution in there is not that significant (disclaimer: that is my opinion)

The problem existing in the localmusics scene now is that, it seems like a fad? or cool to keep dissing bands/artiste by a word "mainstream".

There is a difference between dissing and personal preference.

For eg,even if iam not into pop rock, band X plays pop rock, they play tight, and have gd solid originals, i will support them.

I don't have anything against the guy, but I have to agree with those around here who say he can't sing fer nuts.

Taufik, who can't really sing well too, sure has more charisma and charm and deserved to win base on the popularity vote.

All in all, I think Singapore's teenage talentime was a big flop, and a joke for most, bringing to the spotlight some of our local's mediocre bathroom singers, two of whom won the top flight, and are very much mediocre stilll bathroom singers.

sorry la, but to be honest. youre now playing into popularity. its very unfair to those who really have talent but dont get the recognition.

with regards to the talentime and the competitions. i think its just a smart plan for companies to learn what people want, and then sell it off. face it, companies are more for making money then having their artists performing.
with the teenage support and everything, and the reasons for supporting, do you think that talents are given credit? is it fair for people who can perform so much well, yet lose out to substandard artists who only are better in looks and appeal.

james, if you say you wanna support this kind of talent. then sg music scene is just going to be about appeal, and nothing about music talent. i dont want it. why call it music if there is nothing about it?

Eh sorry for posting this late but I don't think Sly deserves all the due respect or credit or support.

He's just playing Air-guitar on national tv.

If you realli listen to it, you can hear the difference.

But then Mediacorp does do that alot to prevent cock ups by the artistes themselves, that's why there's alot of lip-syn and now guitar syn =)

he sucks he is just a poseur and he claim to arrange canon rocks, please la is jerry c, ibanez guitar, nice

taiji, i hope you have spent some time reading the previous post. there is no point putting him down.
