Singapore Idol Finalist? YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!

I thought Sylvia wasn't too bad. She didn't impress before the piano show and i was wondering why ken rated her so much till she sang mercy during the final 24. She's got the looks and the voice, hope she goes far!

Lets face it - its a popularity contest - NOT A SINGING CONTEST -

more votes = more smses = more $$$$$

Contestants with more ppl voting for them will make it while the truly good ones who dont have supporters to vote will go out ....

I was amazed how many contestants sang FLAT last night ....

what to do .... its a commercial venture ....

Was Charles "Stich" the son of a gun who completely massacared a Bon Jovi classic last night on Spore Idol???

Yea it was him.
I was shocked . his really bad.

Fgl> yes many many ppl went flat. my dad(music teacher) "aiyo.. so lousy. super bad. still think mae is the best."
hahha.

:-)

i feel that the previous season of Singapore Idol hosted much better singers with better vocal prowess and pitch, people like jonathan Leong and Hady Mirza had a greater voice range, allowing them to sing different genres of music without much of a hassle, whereas the top 12 of this season, each have only one genre of music they are good at, allowing them only to sing certain songs, and if they step out of that zone, their voice goes pitchy or flat, and their diction falters. However, i must say that Farhan, the Najip look-a-like, together with Mae Sta and Tabitha have done a good job so far, with Farhan having the best vocal range, and he doesnt look like he struggles much with the different genre of songs he was sing. Yupp, so this season of Singapore Idol was not as good as the previous seasons, with this season being more of a business strategy for mediacorp rather than a true-blue singing contest. Even the guys over at America's got tallent sings way better than the kids at SI. The fact that they have not given up much, compared to talent shows like American Idol, where contestants actually move state, leaving their families and friend behind, with the selections being more grueling since they are like millions more vying for the coveted spot even in the top 12. Compared to the kids at SI who has not really sacrificed much, are a little too drama-mam when it comes to elimination.

so this is my views larh, may not be similar to yours, but heres my two-cents of Singapore Idol.

im just amazed that the contestants think they can actually pull off those powerful songs like bohemian rhapsody, sweet child o' mine and you give love a bad name. some songs are just too sacred i think they are not even aware what those songs actually meant. its just embarassing to see those classics being butchered. i cringe after every performance.

i enjoyed mae sta and sezairi though, so its not all doom gloom.

ohwells, at least there's always rockstar inxs and rockstar supernova performances on youtube. THAT, is real talent people.

I know man. saw the ad for we will rock you and i was like, ehhh damn familiar eh. Haha. Marty Casey is my favorite of the show, his performance of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here won me over, but JD Fortune suits the band more i suppose.

I dont have a problem with SI in general, just that I dont get why they cant choose songs that would suit them best. Like in my opinion if Nurul Huda is smart, she can be Singapore's Adele, Amy Winehouse or Duffy with her lovely, unique, vocal style.

P.S Ryan Star is my all time fav from both series. Intense!

I was at the live show of Singapore idol for the last 2 rounds. I agree with Syam41, some of them such as Nurul had such unique voice but screw up by the song choice.

Well, imo, an idol has to be like by people, be it whether he or she sings better or lousier than the other. In the music industries nowadays, even in the chinese / taiwan music industry, there are so many new idol who can't even sing well. Since the winner is fully decided by votes, i guess it's quite fair. Like what Gurmit mentioned in the last few episodes, the fans of the certain "idol who got out" are to be blamed for not voting enough.

Anyway for myself, i'm a chinese, but i think Malaque or Tabitha has really got the looks and average voice to be a star even in the english music industry (i think the x-factor looks & voice is an important factor for idols who wants to succeed even after they win the contest). Sorry to Farhan's fans, i think Farhan is good, but if Farhan really wins, my guess is that he will only be able to succeed in the malay entertainment industry as we can see & proven from the last 2 singapore idol winners.

Singers such as Syltra really deserve to be in the top 11, but due to votes again, she is out. Well, fully by votes again, can't say much.

All the best to any of those contestants who are working hard out there!! :)

Dude, sorry man, I don't understand what the show being a commercial venture has to do with the lack of people who can hit the notes!

It's funny that good singers don't have any support. If that's the case the scene is well and truly dead. Where are you people????????

So once again, "lousy" wins - thanks Ris, by the way - "good" goes back home and sticks a gun in its ear. Start playing Boot Hill.

okaye i know i may be contradicting myself over me liking farhan and now i dun like him. but im being honest.

farhan sings flat.
He has a very narrow vocal range.
I believe if he sang the way he sang the previous two rounds, he wont even get through.

Sorry i dont like ppl who cant sing and dont deserve to be in the competition.

On the other hand, FAIZAL, SEZEIRI AND TABITHA ALL THE WAY!!
