Signature stuffs

I think a lot of people get the wrong idea here, what I'm trying to say is dun get your sound thru artist endorsed stuffs and dun trust that ALL signature stuffs is good. Slash was using a les paul copy, his jubilee amp distortion, a regular Boss DD3(which a lot of people and "tone purists" diss on the internet, jus check out harmony central and you'll know)and a Boss equaliser(for his solo) to get his sound. Zakk Wylde was using a regular Boss Super overdrive(which I think he would prefer over his Zakk Wylde overdrive anyday) and regular Emg 81 and 85(what's the difference between regular 81s and the Zakk Wylde set anyway cos Zakk has been using regular 81s all his life) to get his sound. What I'm trying to bring across is dun rely on artist endorsed stuffs to get your sound because most famous guitar player are jus using regular stomp boxes to get their sound anyway and it makes you very unoriginal.

a lot of the high quality products are good by sticking to the same conventional stuff: having proper quality on it. If you opened up a high end PRS or Gibson - they come shielded. The frets don't have any production defects, things are ensured to be working very well with little or no quirks. High quality pots and caps are used. Ditto for amps - high quality caps and pots are used.

it makes sense for manufacturers to make a better quality signature than their standard models so that it justifies the price tag. If not, it'll be like what most people say on the Jem Jr series - nothing of it's signature replica.

You could either get a high end guitar (signature or not), or pick a normal guitar with good worksmanship, and upgrade the pots and caps and shield your guitar from there.

The irony is that both artists you mentioned - if you really had to pintpoint their tone to their equipment - it was from their amps. And a lot of people don't get that idea.

Of course, if you really wanted to sound like Slash or Zakk, you had to learn the techniques they employed, and sound like them with whatever equipment that's given to you first. No two ways about it.

I quite agree with some folks here. Peeps should not expect to get artist stuff and have their sound cos too many variables plus, why sound like them when there's already them ard.

I personally own a Nikki Sixx Gibson Black Bird bass. Cos I am a really huge lover of Gibson Thunderbirds and this is the only model that has bloody iron crosses on the fingerboard. But to get my sound I use my regular Gibson thunderbirds!

I used to gas a lot abt Signature stuff... even now, I still do. However, what I want has overridden the signature thing...

Next guitar for me will be a custom job...
