Hi dudes

My gear is below..I`m happy with my Squier Standard Strat with 3 single coils, but as of late, I`m leaning more towards the classic hard rock n thus, I need humbucker tones. I`m thinking of installing a single-coil size humbucker in both the neck n bridge positions of my Strat n install coil split OR I could just get another guitar with humbuckers(looking at the Squier `51 currently), but the thing is I find it a hassle maintaining 2 guitars. Which is more costly? The 1st or the 2nd option? Which is more worth it in the long run? Really in a dilemma..

I appreciate ur inputs : )

Thanks

i agree with sub..i might get anuder guitar with all single coils...after i settle certain stuff.since i already got a double humbucking guitar.

i tink if u can afford it..get anuder guitar.so that u can have the best of both world..not literally best.but..i tink u noe wad i mean.. :D

get another one...I have a strat and a yamaha humbcker guitar..maintenance is secondary to getting the tone u want... they are my wives, never find it a chore to maintain them

faizal bro, i notice on ur friendster (btw add me leh!) page u've owned a lot of guitars eh?

why izit a hassle maintaining guitars?

juz get les paul hehe.

get that Duncan 3 set pickup package from Davis. Lil59/some singlecoil/JbJr.

Best bang for the buck pickup set.

Hmm.

Guitars take effort to maintain. It's just that to some the ritual or chore of cleaning up, etc may take longer than 2 hours? I personally cover up the body with a t-shirt to prevent dust from accumulating on the guitar when it is resting on the stand. I only give my guitars a serious go-over with body cleaner once every 2-3 weeks, or if and when I change strings.

But back to the topic... i own 2 guitars with either axes having dedicated Humbucker and Single-coils.. either H-H or S-S. It relieves me of boredom when I switch from one axe to the other. Pleanty of tone to play around with.

Recently fell in love (again) with the tone of my Telecaster through the double muff 8)

Hmm.

^^^ Please bring condom, I poor boy only cannot afford to clean up all the jizz with my mediocre bottle of guitar polish

Next week man! Either that or you drop by my workplace this Sunday

WAH!!! jam at ur workplace ah? lol...

sori to hijack thread...

err...get a new guitar wif diff specs bla bla... at least sumtink new to the collection

Here's my take...

Why don't I have many guitars?

My Ibanez was modded to bits, 2 humbuckers, each with a 3-way toggle for series, coil split and parallel operation. Why didn't I just go buy a strat for single coil stuff?

Reason is quite simple... I can't stand possessing a guitar that is seldom played. It irks the life out of me... its like putting a relationship on hold you know what I mean?

So when I had an RG7621, I got really annoyed with myself, 7621 was left untouched!

And now... the USACG is in so the existance of my Ibanez is threatened. I do not see a point to have multiple guitars!

Hmm.

^^ Agreed.. so the thousand-dollar (literally) question is:

Should he mod his axe for tonal variation, or should he buy another guitar to get an entirely different humbucker-toned workhorse?

you might wanna check out the Seymour Duncan SSL4 Quarter Pounders for ur strat.. same pickups that Ritchie Blackmore used back in Deep Purple and Rainbow.. nice full sound, and a very high output too.. best thing is that they're single coils, so they fit nicely on ur strat.
