Saturdays=Youth

hammock have just released their new album off darla records. It's a little different but pretty awesome :)
will check out monster movie.

The December Sound has also released a pretty decent shoegazing album called Silver last year.
Also, anyone into HK shoegazing bands like Elf Fatima?

monster movie is fronted by Christian Saville... betcha that name is familiar right.... SLOWDIVE!!!!

bro Pathein bro recommended me Lanterna b4

I is loves it!

It's not exactly shoegazing... Just like a cross btw U2 and Pink Floyd without any vocals.

I love how this thread has become a discussion on shoegazing, haha.

let's not scare the potential m83 fans away! also i'm sure there are more M83 fans here. come out of the woodwork, i call ye..

Slowdive is awesome, but this Monster Movie - Last Night Something Happened album I just listened to sounds really dated.

anyone heard of japancakes? They covered loveless in its entirety recently. pedalsteel + cello for vocals, and no distortion. It was a pretty fun listen, actually.

AgingYouth - I haven't heard Lanterna, I'll go check them out but from what you described and if you throw in the Police they might sound like Maserati - check their album Inventions For The New Season - it's pretty good stuff. No vocals either. MySpace.com - MASERATI - Athens, GEORGIA - Ambient / Psychedelic - www.myspace.com/maseratirocks

While Monster Movie might sound dated, I dare you not to like the track Shortwave - one of those great late night wrist slashers for sure. Pssst - AgingYouth - I never liked Slowdive much either.

Japancakes' Loveless is awesome. Who ever thought of covering an MBV album WITHOUT GUITARS? Great concept, and a fitting tribute - scores huge points in both paying homage and yet reinterpreting the work with their own unique mark.

Anyone up for ATP this year? Not that you can get one of the coveted 3000 tickets...but the lineup's amazing. MBV headlining, Built To Spill performing the classic Perfect From Now On in its entirety, and wait, get this - Tortoise performing Millions Now Living Will Never Die wholesale. Beat that.

On another point, would tangential music discussions scare potential fans of a similar kind of sound? Aren't those who're inclined towards this thread (mostly) all here to explore and find new horizons? :)

Maserati is good stuff. groovy post-rock but they tend to get repetitive.

and ATP sounds really awesome, but I can only dream of going. I've already missed Tortoise when they came here. Man, just looking at that sweet lineup makes me cry.

I guess not, keep it up with the good music suggestions and discussions then! :)

Hey that Lanterna sounds pretty good - it's like what you'd do with a guitar, looper, couple delay pedals, some great drugs and your bedroom.

i dont know what genre is what, but i think they is nice MySpace.com - Holy lovelovelovelove - Toronto, CA - Experimental / Electrónica / Rock - www.myspace.com/holyfuck

anyway, if anyone into hammock, might like to check out yellow6 as well. Dreamy stuff with droney intent at times. MySpace.com - yellow6 - leicester, Midlands - Ambient / Minimalista / Americana - www.myspace.com/jonyellow6

And of course, drony whiny stuff with pop piano playing, eluvium! My all time fave!
MySpace.com - Eluvium - Portland, Oregon - Ambient - www.myspace.com/eluviumtaken

and lastly, still droney, growing! Must listen to it loud, louder and loudest!
MySpace.com - Growing - BROOKLYN, New York - Ambient / Drum & Bass / Death Metal - www.myspace.com/growingsoundnyc

I quite like Holy F uck. I thought they were more indie dance rock. No?

Their remix of Radiohead's Nude is apparently Number 1. Quite the nice.

heh, not sure bout the genre thou, as long as no singing, iam fine with it

even techno "tersk chisk tersk chisk tersk chisk" also dont seem as hard for me to feel da beat in it nowadays..

haha, faster and induce psychedelia! Thats sounds trippy. I shall go check it out!

I is no like hear people talking or singing, so if no human voice its half the battle won!

heh, the description of holypiak sounds like using analog to do digitalise moosic!

anyone into Jeff Pearce? wanky music to fall asleep to. Jeff Pearce melodic ambient music si beh song ah...

another one of my favourite but been around for a while already, Bethany Curve. Skies a crossed sky is still my all time favourite. Bethany Curve - Official Site of Bethany Curve. Flaxen, the new record is now available!

And the other all time favourite of mine, Flying Saucer Attack. Flying Saucer Attack Frequently Asked Questions (FSA FAQ)
Flying Saucer Attack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You guys have your Malmsteen, Vai and Petrucci... I have my Dave Pearce!!!

Not feeling some of these recommendations. Some have too much of an emo vocal to them, some are too lazy with their guitars, there's a limit to reverbed guitar/vox i can take, but alcian blue is rather interesting, even though it sounds like that :)

And about asobi seksu
YouTube - Asobi Seksu- Walk On The Moon

if the opening melodic phrases are like that. Then, it's a no no for me. That lazy emo phraseology starts and stops at jimmy eat world.
