Sansamp GT2? A little disappointing.

Honestly, I'm not a very tone-picky guitar player. If I find a decent sound, I'll look to work on it or sometimes even leave it as it is. I found a decent tone that I'm happy with now. It has the heavyness, the hair but all that is lacking is the amount of drive and I think basically that's the problem.

I'm seriously thinking this pedal is faulty and if it is, I might ask the person I bought it from. And yes, I got it off second hand. I've read reviews, tried a friend's of mine and tonnes of videos, but all I could do was above. I feel that I haven't really unlock this little beast.

When you tried your friend's pedal, you basically got what you want?

Have you asked your friend to test YOUR pedal to see if it is really faulty? Might be good to have a second opinion from someone who has it before coming to a conclusion.

Yes I will, but just so I wanna know. Will an overdrive pedal help with the gain that I need?

Glad to hear that u found the sound that u want.
With any overdrive pedal or EQ pedal, the gain/drive can be increase for sure.
u can always started with using ur headphone for actual sound reference, then minor tweak with ur amp for the sound.
This method applied to all MultiFX pedal into front of the amp. =)

An overdrive pedal will help boost the signal, yes, but there is a danger of muddying up your tone as well. Best to borrow an OD from your friend and see if it can done, cos purchasing an OD for the purpose of pushing a pedal that might be faulty might be counter productive.

I'm getting close if it aint faulty. I've been playing around with it and I'm happy but not yet content. I wanna unleash it at full force! HAHA. Anyway, thanks so much for the input yet again guys.

I might go borrow an OD to try in front of the GT2.

I was wondering, if it is faulty, where can I have it checked out? Oh yeah, it does have life time warranty correct?

fanir: Don't be disappointed just yet. I think stacking it with an overdrive will give you the edge you need.

Newbie: Which studio did you jam at? I'm surprised it has JSX Half stack. Would like to try it someday.

Wait. You said you're ok with the "heaviness" yet the drive doesn't seem to be enough... Are you referring to the treble? or are you referring to COMPRESSION/SATURATION?

Your Gibson LP Custom comes with '57 Classic pups?

Basically, he got the sound he want, but just hope to get tune the Drive/Gain up to 11.

Any overdrive pedal will get the job done.

Basically, I think I know what you mean by Saturation/Compression. EQ-wise, I'm happy with the tone. I wanna be able to push it further. Like when you mute the strings, you can really feel the chug. I'm only getting a thin chug now. Like very Pop Rock kinda chug. I'm looking for a heavy chug.

Yeap, I'm borrowing a TS7 from a friend of mine and I'll try to see how it goes with it in front of the GT2. If all else fails, its faulty.

Damn, if its faulty, where can I repair it, I've searched googled and there's no more distributor for Tech21 here in Singapore. Just my luck.

Haha, seems like the good folks here at SOFT have pretty much exhausted all possibilities for the lack of gain on your GT2.

Maybe it's time to consider something else? If your GT2 is indeed faulty and can't be repaired.

I guess it has been recommended many times before but I recently got the chance to try this out for real, and it really rocked my boat in terms of a nice chugga chugga.

Here.

Yeah, if its faulty and can't be used, I'd be looking at other alternatives, but for now, I need to make it work. Friggin saved up for this little baby.

Personally, I'm not so much inclined for the Metal Distortion, but the Valve Distortion I might give a shot.

Might wanna see if you can get a refund from the seller and use the money to get something else instead.

Hi bro.

I can guarantee it is definitely not faulty. Trust me on this.

On the other hand, I'm not sure what kind of sound you want, get a brand new gt-2 at TYMC and compare it with my unit, I'm pretty sure it'll sound the same as long as it is the same version.

I think despite people saying GT-2 is versatile and all, there is definitely a limit to what every distortion unit can do. Do play around more, I'm pretty sure you can get the tone you want.

By cranking the gain knob, just for your info, it doesn't add to chugs but more to fuzziness. The ZZZZZZZZZZZZz at the end of each chord and when you touch your strings, it becomes very sensitive. Too much gain some may say.

For chugs, the amp, the EQ setting and the guitar you're using all plays a part.

Like using a single coil strat dialing the same mesa setting VS a humbucker. There is definitely a significant difference. And I'm talking about cheap pickups from SX, not even comparing fender texas specials VS a JB bridge.

Hope this helps.

PS: Bring it down to TYMC, if it is faulty I'll pay for the repair fees no worries. But rest assured, when I sold the pedal to you, it was what it was when I first got it. Tone, condition and everything. :) Cheers.
