RSAF F5E's are flying over my house, and they are pissing me off

One of the most iconic WWII aircraft!

nice lightning. one of the best planes to come out of ww2 as well. when to the open house this morning, i must say though, i was expecting more from the aerial display but was kindda of dissappointed when it ended so fast and not much fast jet stunts were done. the asian aerospace however was probably alot better and worth every cent. i wonder why the rsaf didnt display their black knights for the open house. really wish could seen another of their demonstration.

too be frank. it was quite a simple open house. when you enter, there is a display of rsaf jets from the yesteryears, a-4s, hawkers and the huey. near the hangar area, 4 f-16s including a black knight 16, two f-5s are for the public to go up close(sit in the cockpit and all) then another f-16 and f-5 with armament and various ground support, kc-135r, c-130, e-2c, ah-64 apache, another ah-64 longbow version, the new ec120, super puma, chinnok and some ground anti air equipment. the air show was jus alright, ill give it a 5. the highlight would probably be when the jets take off(engine sounds are freaking orgasmic)and when they did a small live firing display, the f-16s came low and fast and did a nice split s turn. i didnt really bother about the exhibition in the hangar areas.

Its not really an airshow, just open house. If they wanted to bring black knights and all, they would have blown their budget.

yeh but i really wish the planes would have done some stunts at least. its abit boring to just watch them fly past turn around then fly past again and then turn around and land.

I don't think it's about budget. There's not much of a difference economically anyways; the difference in fuel/money used in an aerobatics display and the aerial display would have been negligible, considering the amount of money already pumped into the open house.

The main objective of the openhouse is to show the public how the RSAF has grown through the 3 generations. It IS the 40th anniversary of the air force, by the way.

The aerial display is to show you people how the Air Force integrates its operations with the land units, ala the embodiment of the 3rd Generation Air Force: Integrated Operations across the three services. The Black Knights will not be have been able to show the public anything about the integration.

i think itll be fricking cool if a plane would fly past a carpark in between 2 HDB flats at a VERY low altitude (50 ft or so off the ground), then take a sharp turn up after that, the residents would be very amazed, and very deaf.

:D

and then the plane transforms and starts fighting against it's alien nemeses...

i think i get wad u mean

And the pilot will have very wet underwear.

FYI, aviation fuel is cheaper than petrol. lawl

And the pilot would be very screwed :)

And FYI, it takes alot of fuel to even do a sortie. Just performing EOR (in case you dunno, it means end of runway checks), NOT EVEN TAKING OFF, takes up 800lbs. A car dussen even use that much fuel in a journey from Singapore to Malaysia. Its not a matter of price per litre. Its a matter of litres used in one friggin flight.

That is why it costs so much to do a sortie, to do our peacetime training.

yeah i know that dood, i didnt say its cheaper to fly a sortie than to take a drive...i was just mentioning that aviation fuel is cheaper when compared on a per litre basis. Then again, military fixed wing jets drink a loooot more

fixed wings

Definitely. Jet engines are not built to be fuel efficient. It is performance-biased. BTW when I said 800lbs I WAS talking about our F16 C/D models. F5s drink approx 700lb per EOR.
