'Reserved seats' in the mrt

I think the trend of giving up seats has now been down to "psychologic" effect.
cause they have a "sign" there and 1000000000 pairs of eyes will stare at you if you are not doing the-right-thing. Hence, ppl starts giving up seats, which is good!

One funny case I've heard from my friend is that she was in a dilema whether that lady is just fat or pregnant. Eventually gave up the seat, ended up, the girl started whining to her bf giving remarks like "she no eyes to see ah, i pregnant meh" and the thing goes on and on. So now we have another issues to look at. I believe some of the passengers on the seats have the same thinking if the lady standing over there is just "fat" or not.

"she no eyes to see ah, i pregnant meh"
Luckily, pot bellies for ladies are rare.. haha most of the time, only guys will be mistaken to be pregnant with their 6 months baked beer belly!

seated person, "Eh, dude! Ya want a seat?"

standing beer belly guy, *confused face* "Nah I'm okay"

seated person, "you pregnant what.. seat la! the sign says reserved for you! don't paiseh"

lol

Simple..

If U want seat.. ask for it..

If U dun ask.. u wont get..

No one seems to have the initiative.. So the needy have to initiate to ask..

sad but it works..

Sometimes im ??? to see pregnant ladies walking ALL the way to the first or last cabin to get seats.. so walking is not as tiring as standing rite?
God noes..

call me dumb.. i dun care..

Actually that's a good point. They should just ask politely, chances are they will get the seat.

I try to avoid taking the seats in trains because I know there will always be someone who needs that seat more than me. Besides, standing doesn't kill you that much. Unless of course, the train isn't packed at the time. Only then will I get myself seated

same as me brother..hahahaha

but i still prefer to tak the bus ...can sleep and u wont look at the people who sit infront of me..hahaha

I spend hours in MRT almost every day. From what I've observed:

- still better than HK in term giving up seat
- 99% pregnant women will be offered a seat
- 75% elderly also offered a seat, but some elder is a gentlemen and don't want to be offered, we must respect it :p
- less percentage for parent with toddler

so it's still okay .

But I've extreme proposal . Anyone who not sit on 'priority seat' should not offered your seat before those who currently seat on priority seat (if he/she is not in the category). By this we can educated people that 'priority seat' is seriously mean for those who need it.

then wheres the civic mindedness in that? anyone should give up their seat regardless of where they're sitting.

Agreed with funk. If the bugger in the damn priority seat doesn't want to move his/her precious lil' ass, are we to deny the seat to a person who needs it a hell lot more than we do? HELL NO. I do sit on the seats tho, even if the train is crowded, provided there's no elderly/pregnant/ people in sight. Some of you might cry foul but i do it for a very simple reason. So that no other bugger can come and chope the seat and then refuse to give it up to an elderly/pregnant person, should an elderly/pregnant person board the train. I'd much rather take advantage of the free seat and at the same time ensure that no selfish retard takes the seat. This has backfired on me a coupla times before tho, especially after a long, tiring day in school, the glass sideboard becomes a pillow to me. Fortunately, those incidents are few.

I 2nd heckler's campaign idea. For now tho, maybe we SOFTies can adopt the same practice that i do, to keep those irritating buggers off the seats.
