haha. u want slashs tone u gotta be willing to pay thousands of dollars on equipment. if it were so easy to get his tone den i suppose he'd be using the same gear under the same budget u have. same with satrianis tone. he doesnt have a pricey amp in his namesake for nothing. u gotta realise this. with limited budget will get u limited stuff.

rolands are great for their cleans.

and I've not said this for the longest time but many of my friends will agree...

VOX IS FOR THE BLUEESSSSS.....

hmmm ... so pentatonic what u recommend then ... im not willing to spend so much for the amplifier ... cuz its juz for room ... juz to play inside the room... hehehe ... what u recommend then ???

play in room have limited budget dun want onboard efx i suggest the pathfinder. cheap functional and decent.

u want many many bling bling bell and whistles go for cube.

when i started out i knew there was a budget but i will always try my best never to hold back on my spending when it comes to quality gear unless ure willing to sacrifice a good sound for a lower price. but if there is one amp which has pleased me quite a bit in terms of drive and clarity it is the vox ad30vt. i suppose that is somewhere around ur budget. pretty warm tones though.

also recommended: Roland MicroCUBE, not even $200...

I'm with pentatonic on this.

You want good sounds, get good gear. Bad gear, low on the $ but gives you tone that doesn't inspire, forget it.

You've got your choices laid out for you now.

Plain straightforward amp
Vox Pathfinder 15

Bells & Whistles Amps
Roland Cube30
Roland Microcube (this baby rocks despite its size)
Vox AD30VT

Go google and search this site, there have been reviews and stuff about these amps already. Get an idea of what the amps do/sound and then head do to listen to it yourself. Spend a day. Listened to them all, played them all? Then go home, sleep over it, get out and buy 1.

Those amps are all good practice amps, its just whether
a) Do YOU like it?
b) Do you need efx or not?
c) Do YOU like it?

ZOOM FIRE 30
dun wan the hassle of plugging ur pedalboard.
10" speaker. Gives decent tone.
On board "multi effects"

you have everything in one amp.

Hey Shred ....you gonna end up an amp salesperson ... for free :?

Yeah... been doing a lot of things for free liao, whats one more!

I could recommend a Reverend Goblin too. 15watter, beats everything mentioned here, but you gotta just save up a tiny bit more. 8)

if you are starting out, need a decent tone & have plans to upgrade soon- just shop around for a pleasant sounding unit. disregard the brand name in this case.
