punk rock and emo

I totally understand what ShredCow is saying bout good emo bands. I would say I'm really into Oasis now, it has pretty cool emo lyrics and singing style i guess .... I would say RHCP has some old kickass dope slow emo songs like "I could have lied" and ''under the bridge(of course)'' from the blood sugar era ... Nirvana also had some nice emo songs, Sugar Ray(which i have a sudden craving for), Audioslave, A perfect circle(maynard keenan of tool), Mars Volta, Franz Ferdinand, Alice in chains, Skid Row?

Damn just realise i so emo ....

now hold on.....................................................

nirvana emo? rhcp emo? oasis emo? what warped world are you living in? those aren't emo bands. and the songs you came up with were'nt emo. someone has to define other than being emotional. otherwise pretty much all kinds of music is emo.

I never knew Oasis is emo. Only hear the term Brit rock - as with Blur, Suede, Pulp, (early) Radiohead.

Well, I must be getting old.

If you're saying emo = emotional, and with regards to the first 3 Oasis albums only, I would have to disagree with you.

But hey, whatever rocks your socks. I don't really care whether it's a genre or a feeling.

Okay okay.... this is the vibe i am getting about Emo.

I regard singers of Mr Big and Whitenake, singers like old Bon Jovi and Sebastian Bach, as really great rockers. Great vocals, attitude and tremendous technical vocal talent.

Now, every emo (as per whats classified as Emo) band I've heard... doesn't have that kind of powerful vocals...

I have a feeling the style of singing further defines emo.

Will someone who has the low down on EMO, please expound.

To put in the simplest terms, I guess emo boils down to the lyrics. Heartbreaks, pain, moan, groan blah blah you get the idea. And the simplest way to put a tune to the words is a slow/rocking/sad one.

the most emo of emo bands in the world of emo, to me, is dashboard confessional. i'm not saying they are horrible, but that's emo. I think.

wow...i tink wat blueprintstudios said was helpful in my understanding...guess the dispute between punk n emo goes a long long way huh...overnight the thread added another 3 pages

emo can also mean happy, joy etc. not always sad, suicidal.

that to me is a definition of a word, NOT a genre.

Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger < To me that's an emo song.

Most of you are pretty shallow. Get the definition right man.

okay some of the emo or emocore vocals that i think is great.
silverstein
underoath
TBS
relient k

okay you my not agree. see you taste diffrently and stop trying to tell us about your taste.

and its true that emo people has stop crying. they started screaming.
thats when emocore comes in.

but that was out of the topic.

bright eyes is EMO.

bright eyes makes me EMO.

after listening to bright eyes I just feel like shoving Nin Jiom Paste into his throat by the gallons.

egotistical masturbation and everything else sticky.
