punk rock and emo

But one must also remember that not every Punk Rock band produces political albums 'coz the term Punk Rock itself means it's a genre about the teen age and stuff...

Hail the Sex Pistols! Sid Vicious would turn in his grave listening to today's punk bands. Nay my lad, every punk band produce political album. that's the whole punk ideology:anarchy. Punk and punk rock are two different stuff aye.

And as for emo, its music for the depressed...or i might say stupid emotional people...no offense to emo fans, but yea its not the best solution to our problems.

I'm pretty happy with life right now but the music I listen to would be classified as emo to some people, yourself included. Then how? Am I still stupid/emotional?

greenday basically is political, regardless of albums, though not all of their songs can be deemed political. just an overal outlook. well read their lyrics.

anyways my take on punk rock and emo.

fundamentally, punkrock is a genre used by the punks to convey their political message across through the use of music, pouring out their angst and rebellion through lyrics. basically it's all about politics.

punkrock in the uk, during that 70s era, are distinct from the normal mainstream music. it's use of distortions and 'noise' infusion constitues the counter-culture idealogy.

however, that doesn't mean bands of today who use distortions and have sound similar to that of the past punkrock bands can be termed 'punkrock'. to term a genre as 'punkrock' you have to see it's lyrical approach.

I'm neither a punk nor an expert on punk idealogies, but it's just a summary of the basics. if im wrong, please correct me.

Now for emo. Emo is basically the short form of "emotional". emotional usually are associate with anger and sadness. however, if you would look literally, emotional can also mean happy songs.

lyrics based on the emotions of someone, be it angry, sad or happy, it is "Emo" songs.

Again you have to look at the lyrics. A classical piece can be termed emo. A ballad can be term emo. It depends on how you look at the true definition.

That's what i think la. cheers.

Ha i knew it would turn into some bloody battlefield. tsk emo is such a touchy subject. everyone is bound to get defensive over their favourite bands.

emo is stupid, seriously

Serious question here.

What Emo bands have good singers/singing?

I'm talking Mr Big, Whitesnake and (older) Bon Jovi kind of good singing, not Simple Plan (don't know much emo bands) kind of hollering.

Along the lines of Mr Big, Whitesnake and (old) Bon Jovi?
