Problems between bands and gig organisers?

Hey all,

Just inspired by bigtokes' post abt the whole bitterliberty issue. Am wondering, what are the sort of problems bands face with gig organisers, and vice versa? It sure seems like a pretty rocky relationship from what I can see... How do you guys (either as musicians or gig organisers) manage the working relationship?

P.S. This is for a school project, so pls don't mind if I quote you... Any problems, just PM me!

the thread launched by bigtokes has a lot of the information you are looking for. Put in a little extra effort to read it and draw your own conclusions. If you want, you can then ask the rest of the forum for their views on what you have written.

one situation here does not make the whole contaminated. Check out Aging Youth, Music For Good for example. Nobody complains about them.

yeah true.....
so far my band didn`t have anything BIG against any organizers....except for one lah(i think lotsa people know who lah)..but yeah that was the past...we know wat to look for in the future..but minor probs r inevitable..
it`s just that sum people get carried away n hence it becomes bigger...

but yeah...as a band..n a organizer...i think..if both r professional enuff..things would go easy n smooth..i`m in a band..i did organize gigs before this...so far so good..no complaints...

either side MUST give in sumtimes.....if both sides are `fiery`...of coz things would heat up pretty fast!!...giving in doesn`t mean u`re weak...it means u`re smarter!!!

but yeah..i think it`s a stale n small issue... :lol:

Heh. Good to know that the other thing was just a one-off then. I did read through that thread (several times, in fact), mainly because it opens up quite a few things that I've been wondering abt, e.g. the way gigs are managed, how bands value their own work, etc.

But I started this one wondering if there were any other similar happenings. Since there aren't, maybe people could share some of their good experiences with gig organisers? Anything special in particular?
