hey.. sub... theres this prestige 7-string hanging at bras basah showroom... is that good? btw how much is it... and also the rg1570..? my friend is intending to buy that during the sale

hi 8)

if you refer to the discussion a few pages before this, you'll note the 1527 (7string) being mentioned, hope you relate to that & state other issues you'd like to know which are not covered by that discussion.

the 1570/ 2550/ 2570 are all good Prestige Ibanez models to invest in. on that note, i'd urge potential buyers to check them out since they are going to be more affordable come the sale day.

yes it is...

Erms.. subversion, have you tried this before? Cos I don't see any reviews in the review section.

Some qns:

1. Is it similar to SZ320?
1. How would you rate it against the very popular SZ320?
2. And what would it be best used for in playing, in terms of music genres?
3. How much is it retailing @full price in Swee Lee now, I dont see it at the website?
4. I read that it has large frets... Is it really tht large? My fingers are short man...

Thx, and see u...

i didn't review this guitar simply because it's too similar to the SZ320, just some cosmetic differences which differentiate these units for $100.

there's no 'best for' purpose when it comes to guitars these days IMO, the politically correct consideration should be: Is it suitable for __________? (insert genre of music here)

for 2005, the SZ models (320/ 520) are equipped with Duncan IBZ pickups which make them very versatile, especially when the bridge pickup is a hot unit, while the neck is a moderate/ vintage version.

many players prefer the 320 because it has a full neck fretboard markers, as oppossed to the 520's 'flame' at the 11-13th fret area only & they are not fans of the veneer top. these features do not add to tone.

however, considering that the SZ320 has seen a price hike recently & in view of the upcoming sale, the price difference between these guitars (after disct) is only $50..

unlike neck dimensions/ profile, the fret sizes do not give rise to handling issues. i personally prefer jumbo/ large frets for the ease of playing. 8)

anybody have any idea if ibanez sa260fm will be available for the upcoming year end sales at bras basah? any color would be fine :D thanks

It's sad that they don't stock lefties now, at the BB branch.

I've got my eyes on a couple of babies, though. ;)

of all the jacksons @ the bras basah showroom, the only one that matters to me is this one:

DKMGT Dinky
JacksonDKMGTCBLBig.jpg

reasons being:

*EMG HZ pickups- clarity + drive inclined
*Active EMG Turbo Charger +20db boost (it's one of the 3 knobs in the guitar)- more gain!
*wide + rather fat neck but absolutely playable
*tune-o-matic type bridge- absolute stability + healthy sustain

the only drawback here IMO is the headstock- not many will fancy a reverse unit but it's about looks with this Dinky, the tone & playability speaks. 8)

i have no particular dissent with the rest of the Jacksons there but:

*the floating vibrato bridge has accuracy issues
*default Jackson pickups are rather midrange inclined, reminds me of the repulsive Ibanez Powersound units.

Hi sub, just wondering if you have seen an ebony Gibson Les Paul Custom in swee lee, ready-ing itself for the sale?

none, only one red one listing for $8,800. played it a bit last weekend, it's a Custom Shop direct. despite its new origin, the pickups still could have been better...

Beginning to like the SZ series... Sz320 (alot pple getting), SZ520 (not many asking), SZ720 (available?)

the SZ720 is american exclusive (+ some other countries, ASIA not included), but they don't have the sunburst 320 version like we do 8)

sunburst beauty

the SZ series are good guitars despite the korean origin, the reason why Marty Friedman play them (& have his current signature model after a 320)

O ok.... The Sz720 really is a artistic piece, guess I am a very aesthetically incline person... But the Cort in the fish tank really looks like it... 8)
