Polytechnic

Hey, i know this is unrelated to music, but just wanna know does anyone knows which poly is specialised in which courses?

TP famous for design
NYP famous for business
NP famous for business, mass comm
SP famous for engineering & IT
RP famous for Pbl

is this true?

No, i don't think this is exactly true. I think you should care more bout the course you want/distance of poly from your home more ...

Agree.

Instread, you should...
1. Decide which course you want.
2. Check which Poly have such course.
3. Take distance from home to poly into consideration.

Distance from home is a biggie for me.

Travelling time is VERY tiring plus, the nearer you are, the later you can afford to stay in school to do work/projects.

But of course, the nearer you are, the later you will be. :)

disagree with the above comments. original poster, by and large agree with your list. there has to be a reason why you select a poly when you do, and its good to go to a poly where its well known for its course.

if you intend to further ur studies, having an IT degree or engineering degree from say NP will not give you as much advanced standing in an overseas university as say SP. similiarly, if you're into mass comm, its better to go to ngee ann.

it might be more convinient to go to a poly near your house, but in the long run, you're only doing urself in.

choose wisely!

school?

"If you want to get laid, go to college, but if you want an education,
go to the library." - Frank Zappa

quite an inspirational quote. :) (something funny)

<at a standard job interview>
interviewer: so, what are ur qualifications?

person: oh, i went to the library for 12 years!

gawd i stay in bedok and i study at np (clementi) if the course u want to study is at someplace far, go for it. cos u'll eventually get used to the travelling time =))

err haha i usually sleep on the train (yes even when im standing lol)

Back when I was in poly (SP) I read my lecture notes or slept on the train.

When you go out to work you'll find that yes, certain polytechnics are known to produce better engineers, or business, or etc. I asked uncles and some other people I know who were in charge of employment before I choose my poly.

Agreed , I stay in Yishun and I study at NP and I love my long bus rides to school , great time to spend some time alone indulging in some music while you're on the move.... :)

It's a matter of what kind of course you are most interested in. If you interested in a particular course , then surely you won't mind the distance.

Don't think I'm like that lah , cause my JAE posted me to NP but I'm loving every minute in NP and that includes my current course as well although real estate never made up the bulk of what course I wanted to pursue back then.... :p

Good luck! 8)

I think there is none of polytechnic that have music course except FSV... film, sound and video course in NP...however sound is not really mainstream in the overall course....

well i think schools doesnt matter as much as your grades?
it's like....oh i have a dip in mass comm from ngee ann with all Ds and that fellow have a dip mass com from SP with all Bs. yeah?

dip is just a platform for you to venture out and further on ur studies.

i would stand by the point of distance.
you will, until you experience it
