I tried this at GC. This is an effing good guitar... The sustain, and playability makes this a killer metal guitar... And the TONE!!!! Woah... I was damn impressed. Easily one of the BEST Ibbys I've ever played.

haha thanks Whitey! ya know what? this was a last minute decision where i was finding a replacement for decision to buy a jackson warrior. so this is neck thru and the warrior's a bolt on. so yeah. xiphos it is. yeaaah the tone is really good. talking about comparing A/B with the jackson, i didnt even test it plugged! it was a risk i took, and tone i got.

downside: i'd prefer unfinished or satin finished neck. heh. and i would have prefered it in black. maybe most to most sand off the neck. waddaya think?

unfortunately, my other gears limit the tone greatness of this guitar. i need a new amp and effects. =\

Having tried this guitar, coming from one who likes his necks unfinished, I say leave it be. the neck may be lacquered, but I certainly didn't feel hindered in any way by it.

You should have. Apparently there's no visible gains to be had from a neck thru compared to a well made bolt on. I would still have tried both thru an amp. That way, you'd know... but I guess it's too late now.

no visible but man, the blocking heel of a bolt on surely turns me off even if its a gibson blabla worth 100000bucks. heheh. the access to upper frets for the neck thru is way better. too late but im a happy man =))

yeah im used to playing lacquered necks(my lespaul), but the prospects of having a smoother neck sure appeals to me.
