OM: In the mood for blues

Did an impromptu 1 take and decided to post it, guitar and 1 pedal *incidentally the one which kicked the blues pro off my board as main staple now*

Blues take

So...fire ahead. I'll list out how the recording was setup later, planning to incite some discussion and what some softies think to achieve the tone in the track. Not that it's good, just my type of tone i guess......good to know how others think of it.

*enlisted daniel's help in uploading to his soundclick a/c as i do not want to sign up just to upload 1 song*

I think to have a pedal kick off the Blues Pro its gotta be something... its not a Blackstone for sure... ;)

So what are the choices Mr Ed?

edo... you pedale.... is almost ready!!!

it'll have the 888 mod... the lucky neighbour of the beast mod!

if you ask me about that tone, i feel there are more room for that great single coil chucky sound to come out.. now it sounds like a tap single coil or something.. not bright enuff.. not chucky enuff.. den mayb u can use more of rake playing, it works wonder for playing stuff like that :)

skillwise, i think you are quite good :) but if i wanna shoot, i'll say u can be better.. hahaa..

hay: thanks for the comment :)

cow: To kick off the blues pro, i don't think it's due to the pedal being any better but more of like it's what i'm going for. I'll throw in the SD-1, BD-2, TS-9.....make your guess!

edder: wah lau..noooooooonnnng noooooooooonnggg time liao ah, but 888 ish neighbour across the street dey......albeit bigger bungalow

gr3y: spot on for 1 thing about the tone, and that is i did not use my strat for this jam. It was my custom and the "defective" hot rails in neck position from start to 03:14, after which it's position 2 (hot rails parallel cool rails) till the end of clip. thanks for the encouragement, i sure hope i've got enough time for practice to be better...been guilty of that

Point noted, perhaps a lack of direction as i'm not up to par on copping a solid 1 take jam. Below's the link for the backing, and do post up your rendition of it...or anyone who's doing 1, can share their own takes on it in this thread too.

Challenge wor~~~

I can't play da blues, can I try some pseudo-messed-up-rock-tribal-jazz-punk on it? :D

I still think you should have mixed the lead louder. The bass drum and low end of the backing track is just... overshadowing your lead.

Anyway, I'd like to say that the tone is VERY revealing... The pedal is letting a lot of naunces thru... very cool. I like it. Its *gasp* TRANSPARENT!

If anyone has the oppurtunity to watch Edo play, its quite intriguing IMO. Look at him play from the viewpoint of a fretboard cam... like from the neck to bridge, or vice versa... Edo has a very cool way of playing... can't describe it much but its sort of like... a robot.

like a robot definately dun sound encouraging! haha..

hey edo88 i think its good u post e bt n let us all try.. share ideas too :D

eh blardy hell, since the gathering u've been picking on my fretting hand ah...i have to make up for short fingers you know! The thing about playing low gain, or with strats more likely....it reveals all the player's touch and technique. period.

gr3y, the backing is in my last reply...have a go at it and post it up, it's good to hear everyone's playing

heh i dont know how to say it in a not so arrogant manner, but it was exactly what i've wanted to do, and exactly what i wanted to hear.. maybe i over did it in someways?

i honestly also dunno how to post in a not so arrogant manner, that unless u were looking for the indian music scale in quarter tones or your ears have slight pitching problems?

hifi_killer, is your computer lagging? You are playing behind the beat... or after the beat... depending on how you look at it. :P Really.

But if its what you heard in your head.. and its exactly how you want it... well... I would agree with Edo... the pitching is off and your timing is really off. I understand "holding back" or playing in a "laid back" manner but its really off.
