Obama to receive Singapore plea

to flawed element.

I clap my hand to see what u written....

to fight than to run.
u are really a true true singaporean who love his own country so much just like myself.

dude....i give u lotsa respect for it seriously

And visa, it's called having passion. It's only called stupidity when someone doesn't succeed.

I know very well what passion is, I wouldn't even be here if not for it.

If you are truly passionate about making a difference, and you are an intelligent person, you will know that it makes more sense to make a big difference over a longer period of time with safer, baby steps than to jeopardize your own position with crazy risks.

Chee Soon Juan comes across to me as a thrill seeker- a man who hopes to win a huge pot by going all in, or go down in flames trying.

I can understand that, but I can't really respect it. Not a very skillful way to play the game.

It's our country after all, not just that of the gahmen. Must at least try to do something to help each other.

democracy doesnt solve everything. (and neither does a fake sounding accent, but that's not the point)

I can see Chee wants to do something but he's risk taking does not give people an impression of stability.

Democracy is like monogamy. It's broken, imperfect, full of flaws, and generally undesirable. Until you consider the alternatives.

human rights isnt a universal concept. It originates from western philosophies. So, depending on the culture or situation, people might see human rights as absolutely necessary or bull.

During economic downturns, a typical blue collared worker would care more about earning enough money than his freedom. He would be more than willing to sacrifice his freedom(doing things against his free will. e.g working longer hours, receive less pay) to maintain his job.

Self-preservation is the primary goal for human beings and living things.

how much help should be given? Too much help will cause the people to develop a crutch mentality, too little people will complain not enough. Is there a mathematical formula determine the right amount?

Precisely. Everyone likes to watch a crazy gambler because it's entertaining. But who would actually take their livelihood and say "here, i'd like to put you in charge"?

but one thing i notice...

mostly ...i see some people dont like the living in singapore cause its to expensive all those
some even complain alot..saying wanna go australia all that....(like real only)
even some of my friend keep on bitching about our country all those.
they havent realise that everyday we work hard as long there shelter/food/clothes.
So yeah...in life everybody work hard to earn a living in singapore.
whether or not they do it positively or negatively:)

People people , seriously can you imagine Dr Chee as Prime Minister? Think la before you make statements . SDP cannot win the elections at all cost , it's a different story for the other political parties but not the SDP . They are not capable to lead this nation .

alas, if there were, we'd all be living in paradise now

I'll summarize my views on this:

1. Chee is an incompetent bugger, this is pretty obvious as he does not seem to be able to tell us how he wants to run this little rock.

2. Chee used emotional imagery in his little video (Comparing his children to Obama's and the homeless). Brilliant, you appeal to people for five minutes, after that, most would rationalize that those references proved nothing.

3. Most Singaporeans are perfectly happy being told what to do, why bother with helping people who don't want to be helped?

4. Chee spends more time PAP-bashing. Politics is a game of backstabbing machiavellianism. Not only is he an incompetent leader, but he is an incompetent politician.

5. Chee is incompetent (wait have I said that already?)

PS:

I'd like to add, in addition to what EngelFaeuste mentioned, that I find Dr. Chee Soon Juan to be rather incompetent.

I just don't understand what singaporeans wants.

They want a country that has lots of freedom. Like thailand, no food got freedom, change PM like change T-shirt. Like tawian, freedom of speech till no respect at all for the president, corruption up to billions of dollars. How about Malaysia? u want totally bias racism?

In singapore, think bout it - we have everything that's essential to our everyday life - Clean water, homes to live in, safe streets (don't tell me it's not safe, my friend nearly got raped at 7 f***ing pm in Sydney), comfort, clean air etc. People will never, never be satisfied I tell u. that's the way singaporeans are.

I am kinda disapointed that so many peps here in Soft are like siding with the Chee. LOL, he's talking plain rubbish, and achieving NOTHING sending that crap shit of a video to of all people, Obama. LOL... Laughable. Made himself sound like some freedom fighter... more like a bad attempt at making himself famous again. Maybe he learnt that from Steven Lim ah...

i dont wanna get exiled from singapore right, but ill just say what i think of the government in singapore. lee kuan yew, now minister mentor, passed on his job to his son, lhl. and singapore talks about continuity in the government. but oh no, if u go against the government, ull get screwed over and sued. but look at america. a real democrat country. obama, from a nobody, rise to the worlds most powerful man. thats continuity my friends. but, thats just my opinion.

So the question is, "Whose responsibility is it to take care of the elderly? Government or their children?"

just a food of thought, if the system is such a way that one has to struggle to even support him/herself and his/her core family, would one not feel the burden if he/she has to support the elderly as well?

boyl

The elderly are the ones who 'struggled' to bring up their children who now complain that they cannot struggle to give their parents a living. Family is a powerful thing.

^Tr00 dat, "oh no I am Superobama, can save everywhere else while my country is in shambles after a monkey thrashed everything it had."
