When you guys were starting off the two drums thing, can tell a bit where and what kind of drumming you guys are interested in personally. Very cool! The two drum set really makes everything more interesting and exciting.

I appreciate the art of double-pedalling too (Ah Lang!), and I am always in awe of people who can play it fast and loud! Wow-za!

But for myself, when it comes to playing it in a band situation, I'm not too keen on that genre of music. But it's always good to know and I do hope that one day I can at least play the simplest thing it requires me to. One day lah, now I better get my basics right and swinging first. :mrgreen:

Jerry was really mind-blowing, awesome.eeeee - - hahaha - (like in fast-cars we says " Eat Dirt - when the driver is Fast & Furious " - As for Jerry (our Drummer) This guy.. Kick-Ass man !....I wish he will come again and again to our meetup.

Ahpek says: - Drumming is like Dancing like that the feet (if you can Dance you can Drum)...and his Hand he says is like Boxing like that one (because Boxing also must jump jump like that one).....so remember hor - when you drum imagine you're dancing & boxing at the same time the next time you sit on a kit ... Hehehehehe I think Bro Jiv is something like that ..right?

If you dont get it - call me (I bring you go Disco) - - Drink then I put you up on Bar-Top and dance - after 2 months drumming will improve....

well, thats how i do it.

For those who asked me at the meet-up about how i practice(sorry can't stay long tat day).
Basically, i practice mostly playing simple groove again and again, then i'll move to more complicated groove like funk, latin, soul etc.. Basically this is what i practice all the time, groove, groove and groove... and when i practice with my bands, i'll put it to use.

For stickings and techniques, i only do it as warm-up for like 20-30minutes. Personally for me, i still have to work on my groove. technique-wise, i'm already comfortable with strokes, fills etc(but still need to practice la. cos its important too.). Basically, it's just repetition of patterns that i practice alot, just a mixture of singles and double strokes, and when you do it fast and apply it on drumset, u can amaze others. hehe..(everyone can achive this)
but personally, i'm over that already, i'm more into groove now.
Currently, i practice alot of groove-patterns. And i will play the groove pattern along with my mp3s or just metronome.

Dun make me blush lah...its actually very fun for me to do as well...maybe im just easily amused..anyways, i think smilez' double bass peddling is quite power also...but i realised i wasnt going to be that kinda drummer a long time ago but i still appreciate it cos its an art man...thats why i love drumming...so many styles..but one love..very nice..

Just to revive this thread alittle bit, and also because of my heart burning desire to recap the names of the beat patterns taught by Ah Pek, Mark and Rajiv during their sharing session.

Anyone care to enlighten ? The disability of remembering the names is driving me crazy. I hope I'm not the only one :???:

Even if anyone has anything to share their after-thoughts of the meet up, please feel free to. It would be great to hear different views on lessons learnt.

yes, i do recall asking for songo transcriptions since several xchanges ago, but they have yet been forthcoming till now... haha

i'm holding out on posting this because i want you guys to find it, especially the younger ones. please do share and learn something at the same time!!

from rajiv, mark and pek segment the following transcriptions would be useful too (in addition to songo pattern):

- son and rhumba clave
- bossa nova
- samba pattern, foot ostinato with couple of hand pattern variation
- tumbao foot pattern
