Materials covered in Soft Drummer Meet-Up

i think it's the other way round. patina is the name of the coloring change and because, to some people, it's beautiful, then i guess pple decided to use it as a person's name. happens all the time yo

patina - - I also don't know why they call it that name...but seems like (Lemon juice add salt - patina) is - an Oxidising Agent here - put alot rub it all over the Ride and I wonder do I get those Aged-Kinda Look ... and really make my ride sound more mellow - If this thing really works - then it like what people say - Older Cymbal Sound Better, some even so crazy bury the cymbal into soil ...Hahahahahaha when we just need to use KillerBee Recipe.

Some Note: - Oxidiser Used By Cymbal Maker/Manufacturer

Most Oxider, are Fire Hazardous Chemical or Material ..and are very dangerous (as listed in most Fire Code round the World) it's is very combustible... Care should be well taken when using it my Bros/Sis...

Under UN Classification System (the Orange Color Book) -

Class 5 - Oxidising Substances...5.1 = which states = readily in liberating oxygen or stimulate the combustion in order material or start a fire in other material - hence increasing violence of fire

5.2 = Other kinds of Oxider are combustible and liable to explosive decomposition .

Note also...most oxider are also Corrosive substances

Kwa kwa.

Must disclaimer. I am in no way responsible for how your cymbals turned out in event you decide to try it out.

But if I ever try out the lemon salt way, I will post here.

On a side note, my air con leaked. And water fell on my drums and cymbals. Now my A medium crash is starting to have little green spots on them! Don't know whether to be happy or not. Spots too small. Sounds the same. HAHA!

my brass cymbal last time i sprayed some water and a bit of the sabian acid cleaner... left it dere and did nothing.. few days later the lathing groove became black...!

Ooooh. How does it sound now?

Or is it never clean off the Sabian cleaner properly? I cleaned my Zildjians with the Zildjian cleaner once. WAH LIEW. That was the first and ONLY time I am going to clean my cymbals. The amount of time that took me to clean off the black stains and make the cymbals clean again!!! Cannot lah. Me no patience for such activity one. HAHA!

dang killerbee!! i can actually hear u cuss "WAH LIEW"....hahaha and picture yr pissed off look....hahahahah....boy u crack me up!!

ok...what i learnt at this meetup...

ahpek saying the bass drum is the backbone of the band...everything else a drummer has (cymbals..etc) takes a back seat to the kick. therefore, it must be heard over every other instrument. sounds right to me. better concentrate on my legwork then.

another thing ahpek showed us was his stick control, which is an extension of what Will Kennedy showed us. Will showed us how he practices using all his fingers (except the thumbs) to gain a good rebound plus good sound. ahpek showed us how He practiced with each finger in turn...killer mahn!! oh and pedalling like he was jogging. lots of pple in the room with limbs all over the place after that, trying to mimic his actions

i know lotsa pple shared but no offence to anyone, i can't really recall what else i learnt. it's late lah and i'm tired :b but also, i'm still picking up the basics so maybe dats why i can retain the abovementioned better. most of what the others presented are just beyond me for now, but i must say, it was all still very entertaining and very fun to watch, possibly cos of the presence of 2 drum sets. AWESOME-NESS! can't wait for the next exchange!!!

Jerry covered the hiphop/R&B groove. Adding 1 e n to the hats when you groove. It really makes the rhythm a little groovier! :D

Wow. Thanks mel for reminding us of that one. I think that's really cool.

Our bro bliss also showed some cool application of rudiments!

Xng07, we miss you too. How you coping over there?

It was the 1st time i saw Jerry play. Blew my mind man...he's seriously fantastic leh...dunno why he dun compete at the drumfest competition..

cos he's already a drumming elder? ;) gary (runner up) was one of this students from late 90s.. think it be more likely for him to be a clinician and judge in the future

btw rupert, how did you do that samba thing? that was some really good stuff man!!! (don't know if its possible to 'tab' it out here)

cheers

Oh my god! I love the samba thing that Rupert played. It was happening!!! Was telling snow maybe now I need to make I *heart* Rupert buttons now. HAHAHAHA!

RD got video that segment or not? Samba whistle and all those cowbells, alamak! Spicy lah!

huh? did u tell me that, killerbee? hahhaaha whoops...

jus use his avatar lah, then maybe put his name or "i heart rupert" on the bass reso....funky wunky!! i like the avatar!!!

Yes I did. Immediately after he finished. You were probably more mesmerized than me then! Didn't hear a word I said!

Hmmmpf!

Dun make me blush lah...its actually very fun for me to do as well...maybe im just easily amused..anyways, i think smilez' double bass peddling is quite power also...but i realised i wasnt going to be that kinda drummer a long time ago but i still appreciate it cos its an art man...thats why i love drumming...so many styles..but one love..very nice..:)

yeah man... i realised the same too, that i just don't have it in me to play latin styles, even though i do use a lot of the theory to construct phrases and beats. but it just sounds so fantastic, groovy and instantly dance-able, i'm always in awe of it, like some of the other genres i love but don't play.

i got all this 8-bit video games, goth, new wave and urban beats (not jungle) mixed into everyone else i was inspired by over the years in my playing, hope it didn't throw u off too much when we played together bro

if u don't mind, lets do it again in future meetup !!!! :D
