love pedals

snuff, w L***pedal's Sean, you gotta ring him up man. Emails almost NEVER work, as you prob already know. I ringed him up several times.

"Oh the Burst E needs to be handpainted and dried, so it'll take a bit (2 mths?!) longer.. "

But he's nice on the phone, and he'll check your order out in his folders over the phone. Just be nice. =)

Hey Kenneth,

Thanks for the tip bro!

Well he DID reply me immediately when I won the auction, and REPLIED me in less than 2 mins when he was confirming my payment, but right after that when I wanted to ask more about the pedal, I felt like I was a madman in a desert talking to myself for a while till I gave up and slowly watched a large sum of money being siphoned away from my credit card while I sang to myself under my breath " you can't always get what you want".

thats foxy laday!

lol. why the lovepedal hate goose? some of us not talented enuff to go tinker with circuit boards, so we trust our ears. 'burst E->mayo->Sf Twin Reverb is really really damn shiok. seriously. it tightens up the fuzz so nicely, its really punchy in a good way

Here's one reason why many techs don't like lovepedal:
If you don't know yet, there's a forum at www.diystompboxes.com.
It is well known although unproven that many boutiquers get their circuits, tips and other information all from here. Fulltone for example took the circuit Jack Orman designed, added a few changes, and called it the Fat Boost. Other super big names on the forum:
RG Keen who designed the visual sound workhorse amps. Immense giant in the diy community and great character to boot.
Aron Nelson who is the person behind www.diystompboxes.com and the reason why we have so many nice boutique pedals.
Steve Daniels who is the person providing all those boutiquers out there with the parts they need to make your true-bypass-blue-led-transparenter-than-transparent-overdrive.

You get the idea.

Now, the people I mention, along with Goose and myself who post there occasionally, are ever friendly and ready to help anybody with questions on their own pedal. However, there are known characters who go to the forum to lurk, steal ideas, and ask for help for their own boutique line of pedals.

Sean has posted in the past under the name: S. Dunigan
If you check on his past posts on the forum, there is notably these, which I point out because I am going to make a point later.

Sean:
"Brian, Email me, I have some boxes cheap.. I'll even paint em for ya FREE Sean
www.lovepedal.com"
What a nice guy. Brian Marshall is another giant on that forum btw.

Sean:
"Aron please explain..
I get so frustrated when trying to reply to a post. Forum asks for my login after i have logged in then tells me invaild session. I've tryed to reply it goes through about 10% of the time or it will loop sign in. Is it me???
I don't even try to post or reply anymore I just end up reading new posts all the time!! Kinda funny huh?? Sean "
Valid forum problem, all forums go through stuff like this I guess.

Sean:
" Rangemaster/Beano R.G. ?? HELP!
Yesterday I changed caps on a friend's Analogman Beano. I noticed it had a GE germ. tranny. Why don't my rangemasters break up like this one. I ordered the correct tranny from steve at smallbear, bias is correct. I ve tried swaping to a higer gain Germ. tranny still doing something wrong. R.G., I have a copy of your tech. of the rangemaster what could I be doing wrong? The Beano sounded real nice (after cap change) I don't like em bright. I would like mine to break up quite a bit. Anyhelp would be great and very appreciated. Sean...
"
Sean, like any other member asks the local guru RG for help on his builds.

Sean:
"Anderton Bypass Schem??
Would anyone happen to have this schem?? I lost my book!! I'm trying to build a full bypass (with LED) with no pops or clicks. I've been using the mil2 and AMZ bypass. I still get faint clicks. R.G. has a lot of info on this subject but it is way over my head! I'm thinking maybe the anderton bypass or a relay. I need help! I can live with the clicks but a few guys I do work for can't I would like to build the bypass on my board for my stuff, also offer a 3 or 4 switch box to bypass outboard effects with no pops. Any help would be fabulous! Sean.. "
Pops and clicks info from RG way over his head?? This is the guy that's selling $600 overdrives?

Granted, this is back in 2003. He stopped posting after 9 posts. My personal guess is he decided he could learn and steal enough off the forum without having to post under his personal name. Fast forward to a April 2007, this thread came about: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=56699.0

If what they're talking about is over your head here's a summary.
Dragonfly , another friendly and active member, chanced upon an ebay auction on an 'ungooped' lovepedal.
He emails sean out of goodwill to let him know there might be a fake lovepedal being sold on ebay, and suggests contacting ebay to get them to pull the auction.
Sean tells him it's a fake, but doesn't want to pull the auction, saying "ahh f*ck him.. JUST DONT BUY LOVEPDAL on ebay unless its from me direct.. simple.."
A few people start talking and apparently flaming Sean on his own, as well as a few other forums and sean has this to say:
"who the FUC is aron nelson?

gimme a god damn break here..

why in the hell would I want to copy a DIY POS..
why would I want to do something already done? Do I need money? f*ck NO..
people do shit like that because they have no ideas, visions, talent, ect..

I've been around the block fellas.. for at least 15 years dont need no help from a DIY website thank you.."

End of story.

By the way, Sean is 28 according to his own myspace. At least 15 years means he's been building and selling pedals when he was 13. Note also that that is 1992, way before anyone had easy access to large amounts of diy parts.

One of the forums this went down on was thegearpage.net. But because tgp is controlled by ignorant people with too much money, it got pulled pretty quickly. Basically on tgp, the more expensive pedals, and the bigger pedalboard you have, the more respect you'll get. If you're an engineer who understands circuits, or you're a gigging, paid musician who uses Boss pedals, NOBODY is going to listen to you.

Which is why Goose always goes  and I go :? when people start talking about lovepedals.

End of end of story. I hope that was informative, and if this was posted on TGP i'll bet you a DD20 it gets pulled in a day.

oh didnt know so much much history behind lovepedal.....

way informative. and yes, those people on the forum are ignorant. :|

Aww rats, now who's gonna buy the lovepedal off me? :D

Anyways, Actually coincidentally, I checked out Mike Fuller's Fulltone website before seeing this post from Blueark bro as I wanted to know more about the GT500.

It turns out that he has posted a link which is in pdf format that explains how his boost and fet distortion of the gt500 came about, with all the history and geek talk and etc.

Honestly , I catch no ball, but I think that maybe you guys should check it out and see what its all about cos im in no position to comment.

Its something about refuting the claims on TGP that he ripped off some schematic for the boost and that it has been around since the 70's or 80's.

Cheers! :D

And also dear blueark bro, I dunno man, but I think that there are legal implications involved with your strong posts/allegations about Sean as stuff like that can surely be fodder for lawsuits or something if im not wrong when its posted on a public forum.Dun take this the wrong way, im just worried thats all but perhaps someone with international Law knowledge/experience here could advice on how to safely circumvent any legal issues for our sakes.

cheers :D

Although the Fulltone topic is occasionally brought up, the diy community actually still has quite a bit of respect for him as he's arguably the person that kicked off the boutique market of stompboxes.

Quite an interesting read on that pdf! Thanks snuffle :D

Legal implications wise, I think it's fine. There have been posts much worse than mine, on much bigger forums, and to date I don't know of anyone getting sued for posting anything on any forum.

broarkbro, how can you say that, you will break the heart of many tgp enthusiast in here

anyway, diy forum rocks. Just thinking if really putting ethic aside, theres so much info and design which prolly is enough to flood the market with pedals/effect after effect/pedals

Ah, finally my Lovepedal has arrived.

I walked into my office and Voila! It was on my messy table!

Can't wait to rush home to try it out! :D

1 x oc76 and a trimpot for bias (i suppose?)...

Actually, regarding what Ark said.. yeah, TGP is alot about the gear... its called the GEAR page for that...

But thing is... regardless of Business Practice, or how much of an ass you are... if the pedal works and tickles your fancy --> Its IN. And I bet you, many wouldn't care what techies think or how much they have been ripped off because.. it just hits their sweet spot.

To make matters "worse", you have people who CAN PLAY and are real MUSICIANS and who seem to really KNOW their stuff - and some of these guys use Lovepedal too.

That's just it isn't it? The relentless pursuit for that sound in your head... whether the pedal really works, or whether its the power of suggestion...

btw, Brian Marshall? Sudecay? Makes some really really use-able, studio and live orientated pedals. But. BUT. IMO (i hate saying this ugh) his designs while totally usable and stuff... don't go that last 5% - 10% that makes a Klon a Klon, a vintage TS808 a vintage TS808, a Landgraff a Landgraff... interesting.

That said... Box of Rock, NOC3 Pure Drive and Cactus Crunch, all in.
