I think its high time. I think its good to share. I think people could benefit. I think its going to be a cool thread!
Okay... here's the beef. Or cheese.
We all know the "standard" pedal arrangments:
Guitar --> Wah --> Distortion --> Delay --> amp
Stuff like that... pretty straight forward.
But what this thread deals with is... running things "different"!
"Different" because its not really different, just seldom done.
Sometimes, we just want that different sound to inspire us, to make us move our butts & hands, to play that magic solo or compose that magical piece.
So.
I'll go first....
1) Dirt pedal --> Envelope Filters / Auto Wahs
You can get pseudo duck-quacks with ease but the magic comes when using dirt pedals that are octavers, ring modulators, starved fuzz, etc etc...
E.g. Octave Down Synths / Octavia / Fuzz Factory / etc etc
You get WEIRD... and its very cool...
Usable?
Definately.
Useable thru-out a song?
I think the audience will kill you.
2) Envelope Filters / Auto Wah / clean-ish Wah --> medium-heavy Chorus
The effect is like a volume swell that has a dreamy sweep - just moving like a wave... The effect is more apparent with the 1st 2 pedals... with wah, not so.
But... using a wah before an envelope filter will allow you to control when the envelope closes/clamps down, so you can control the sweep...
Usable?
MOST DEFINATELY
Useable thru-out a song?
Sure, but its difficult to be consistent with the sweep of the envelope filter.
3) Octave down --> Octave up
Hahaha... yes.. you will get an octave down, original signal and octave up. Hehehe... this one is very cool.
Usable?
MOST DEFINATELY
Useable thru-out a song?
No lah... the octave up kills little animals slowly but surely.
4) Delay --> Delay --> Delay --> Delay --> Delay
This one is actually common but yet not so common... People usually only have 1 delay pedal in their rig... but really, this one MUST TRY!!!
Its beautiful. I shall say no further.
Usable?
MOST DEFINATELY (a Brian May clinic vid on youtube shows it in use, and U2's Edge does it all the time, and many more)
Useable thru-out a song?
YES!
Okay, ur turn... contribute... give some wild ideas... my ideas are very docile.
Do state it clearly ah... and describe ur sound a little. Oh, and report back, those of you who found something useful!!!!
