Y'know, it's funny how everyone attributes the ballsy tone of the LP to Les Paul. When it wasn't him in the first place.
I mean, If it wasn't for him, this guitar would still have been launched by Gibson, probably in another name. Ted McCarty already had something similar done up. LP basically had his log. In fact, LP wanted a different wood combo. it was Gibson who changed the wood combo to what we know now. From what I gather, we have LP to thank for it's Goldtop and Custom look rather than anything else. The humbuckers were Seth Lover's, and only in 1954. They were P90s before that.
Oh, and of course, lending a cool name to the guitar.
