does my first post mean i did not respect his decision, rudimenatldrummer? .
Relax rockito
There is really nothing wrong the way I see it if - If he were to ask you (to play the lead parts as what he plays), but at end of day only require a Guitarists to play the rhythm part, because he is already playing the Lead-Guitarist Role in his Band (couple with the facts that he is the Band Leader here)...............
I am sure he knows jolly well that you are a good player too (and maybe as you say better than him here)....but Rockito, as I've mentioned - He must find a Good Fit between you and the Band and for whatever reasons - he doesn't finds a Fit here - so he did not pick you.
I mean, think positively lah - Maybe he feels your talent are wasted if you will be playing with his band as you could also be a Awesomeeee Lead Guitarists if you were to join another band (I said maybe here, we dont know right?).
Not calling you for whatever reasons (is a small matter too) - maybe he feels "pai-seh" to you (how do you know too - you are not him).
The above might not be attributed to "Glamour" too - but Glamour or No-Glamour - to each his own - There is nothing wrong with it depending on ones Objective for playing Guitar or whichever kind of instruments is not a Bad or Big Issue here.
But the facts remain on what you've posted here as a Thread-Starter to all...stipulating (if I may quote again) - - - the below
[ - Have u been for an audition for a guitar slot and then the guitarist ask u to play what he plays? he's aware that you're many times better than him but only ask u to play rhythm for the band. You know if u play lead u can create better melodies out of simple note for note lead/fill-ins that he plays. I can even play lefthanded better than him. Then he said he'll call u but he never did becoz he wants to be the lead guitaist for the band. WTH.
the trend is all about glamour. - ]
Anyone reading your post, by the way you have written - will give an impression that you're actually quite arrogant too (cause you are COMPARING/PITTING yourself to the whoever Band Leader who is also a Lead-Guitarists for his Band here - the one that audition you) - and you feel that you are so much better than him (you are indeed measuring your own self-worth here) - and you quote that - Because you're better than he is and he did not take you as a member of the Band -even assumming if he does (he will only give you the role of the Rhythm-Guitarists) - as such - "Is it all about Glamour came into the Topic" .....
Nothing wrong with " Is it all about the Glamour Topic" here afterall ..... just a discussion. But you have given alot of people here- A Perception about you (True or False, Good or Bad, Arrogant or Not-Arrogant, Humble or Not Humble, Respecting Others or Not, Is it Challenging someone a Band Leader or not) from what you've posted in the beginning of the post.
I leave this to you rockito, to judge for yourself - think about it. It's all about Attitude Towards This Fine Art Of Music...
PS: - You seems to be not very accomodating and not an easy person to work with (no hard feelings) but at least that's only my own personal opinion here.
My answer to your question is - YES you did not give him the respect (even though you said you respect his decision) - because
Firstly - you have no choice (dont' you) - but to accept - as he has the Final Say.
Most importantly - If you've respected his Decision (as you said) - then why quote all this from the start - Give that Man his respect, He too - as a Musician, as a Band Leader - Why Thumb Him Down here?
