Personally, I disagree with anyone who says there should be no glamor/glory/fame in music. If it's only about the music, then it's quite a pity, as you become only a studio artist. There's just an extra added dimension of satisfaction when you hit all those notes correctly live, in front of a strong crowd who's with you all the way. The humongous sets, the elaborate dresses, the sequencing, lights, cameras, whatnots... all give you that power-packaged two hours of music entertainment on your DVD at home. Being there live... it's just an explosion in your head, because the music will sound ten times better than it does on your iPod.
I don't know if you ever feel like being that musician who's up on that stage, being the centre of attention of thousands of people, being the driver of the whole show... because I do. Hah. Don't mis-judge me, I love music. I listen expansively, and try apply everything to my playing (drums), but at the end of the day, I want to be in a band that not only plays great music, but puts on an extremely good show live.
Just as a side-note on the flaming/argument on this thread, I personally find that softies do tend "rebutt" the threadstarter, or rather find a different way to give their opinion since someone already has made the same point (and someone always does since there are so many forummers here hah, which is why I never get to post lol). And once a discussion topic gets over 10 pages, it's common to see confrontations, no? Anyway, peace, I don't wish to start a fight hah.
