Lead Guitarist that only wants the name

Wait, this isn't a rant thread?
Everyone was posting on how or why you didn't get accepted or even many many other topics but you kept saying and saying and saying to stay focus on the topic, if this isn't a rant thread I don't know what it is?

im just reminding them to stick to the topic. its not coz honestly im not angry or violent.

this thread is interesting.

I once thought playing guitar could get me fame and fortune, but it has brought me more misery and dread!

to play guitar for all eternity only trying to write a single song that can speak volumes to my own melancholy. it was never about you or them.

oh how i wish life would be so simple again.

I got an idea. Lets all just be honest here.

Any guitarist here ever play in the band just to feel the glamour and the fame? Wanted the name and be known/recognized as well? Just wanna be an outstanding rock star with the likes of Jimmy Page, Slash, Brian May, Richie Sambora, Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmon etc.

I did.

bro neuro
arghh..thats deep bro...really deep..you are in it for the fame and glory..hehehe

honestly..i believe that i am the best guitarist the world has never seen..
I am a guitarist..not a lead guitarist or rhythm guitarist..just a guitarist..
i am not into this for the fame,$ and babes..I am doing this for passion..

hehehe

check this guy out...the guitar idol..

YouTube - the worst guitar player in the world

ps: this guy is way better than me

Hahahaha ! - ok my turn

I remember, before I join my very 1st a Band - Oneday as I was in the Disco (I goes there at least twice a week), My friend (a drummer) in the Band then invited me to Sing on Stage - (he didn't ask me to Drum- cause I was not even an average drummer and had Zero-experience in front of pulbic at that time - I just love dancing)...I was real scared.

I bottoms-Up 2 Glass of Beer at one go - sat down for 10 minutes, then when I got a little groggy - I went up Stage and Sing.gggg...The lights shine on me (my eyes) and I couldn't see the people faces clearly down the stage and I just sang and sang...halfway along the song - Many girls went up stage and actually kiss me (my mic almost fell off my hands)...Hahahaha, but I still continue singing thill the end ....and after that I went to the Rest-Room clean up all the Lip-Sticks marks on my face...feeling great...it was nice.

Then I tell myself - I guess (The Singer & The Guitarists) will usually get all the Lime-Light as a Frontliner, but I still prefer to be a Drummer (cause I cant play any other instruments) ... hahahaha.

I told myself, I dont think I'm in it for the money & fame (cause I'm not good enough and certainly not a Professional Musician, if I do get some money that can cover my Taxi-Fair home I would be very Happy already), but If I could get $$$ & Fame (I dont see why not- anyway I'm too old for that now - all of you will have a better chance than me)

I now do it out of Passion (for the love of it and is really having Fun) but I still love the attention especially from the Cha-Bo, (I wont tell you all if I did flirt with some of them the last time - (It's a secret) in case me wify read my this post, I will surely die )....Hahahaha...anyway I'm just a man...comes what may...I just take whatever is given to me..right?..

Is this what they call "Glamour" that I love? ...well?

PS: - But with all these Glamour - There is one last thing I ever want - I've seen at least (4-girls) slap him (my this Drummer Friend) on the face at the Disco ... Hahahaha ! - the fact is he is really good looking - That's when I really started taking up drumming again, after that it became my Passion till now and it is really Music now that I love.....

Cheers

PS: That was just too frank of me.

Cheers

Eric

u must not be so modest, cos that might be the exception rather than the rule. i bet i would get hammered if i go anywhere near a mic

but look at it the other way lah, there is no point if you have a mouse of a guitarist and a hamster of a singer. these guys sell the band. they are the front end. the drummer is the accountant and the bassist is the logistics. these roles are not easy to pull off. if the bassist is a complete arsehole, you most probably wouldnt notice right?

Personally, I disagree with anyone who says there should be no glamor/glory/fame in music. If it's only about the music, then it's quite a pity, as you become only a studio artist. There's just an extra added dimension of satisfaction when you hit all those notes correctly live, in front of a strong crowd who's with you all the way. The humongous sets, the elaborate dresses, the sequencing, lights, cameras, whatnots... all give you that power-packaged two hours of music entertainment on your DVD at home. Being there live... it's just an explosion in your head, because the music will sound ten times better than it does on your iPod.

I don't know if you ever feel like being that musician who's up on that stage, being the centre of attention of thousands of people, being the driver of the whole show... because I do. Hah. Don't mis-judge me, I love music. I listen expansively, and try apply everything to my playing (drums), but at the end of the day, I want to be in a band that not only plays great music, but puts on an extremely good show live.

Just as a side-note on the flaming/argument on this thread, I personally find that softies do tend "rebutt" the threadstarter, or rather find a different way to give their opinion since someone already has made the same point (and someone always does since there are so many forummers here hah, which is why I never get to post lol). And once a discussion topic gets over 10 pages, it's common to see confrontations, no? Anyway, peace, I don't wish to start a fight hah.

in my opinion, there are ppl who just wana play for the love and passion. There are ppl who play for the love, passion and fame. there also ppl who just wana play for fame.

not everybody is the same. it all depends on who you are. but if fame comes to me, i'll treat it like a bonus. Still when you're famous, that doesn't mean u dont play for passion anymore. just my thoughts.

still im just a guitar player, not a rockstar and i play for the love and passion for music.

let me introduce you to keith richards
ROLLING STONES - RICHARDS: 'I NEVER WANTED FAME'

I don't quite agree. It's too much of a cliche. Ordinary people wish to be famous, while famous people claim that being ordinary is better. Why take the famous-folks' side? And not every famous person desires to return to ordinary living, just in case you mis-interpret my point. I don't hold any grudges against anyone who's seeking fame. I only despise those which are too naive in their approach.

its ok if u dont agree coz it just my opinion.
btw, jus wana say i respect your thoughts.

not everyone will have the same approach. as for me, i dont despise those who are naive in their approach coz thats wat they are.

But Richards never set out with the intention of becoming a star and is convinced that fame has not made him happy - it is the music he plays that gives him real contentment.
He says, "I've been invented by the media. I'm just a minstrel. I didn't want to be a rock star, just play music.
"I realised to do that, you had to be famous. It is nothing to do with wanting to be a star."

thats wat he said, true or not, we don't know.

me an ordinary person, never wanted fame too. i just wanna play music. but if it comes, i wont say pls go away.

i just wana say when u're famous, that does not mean u dont play for passion and love for music.

just my thoughts.

My god, ive been inactive for two days and this thread is still alive?

well alreast its abit subjective this time.

i started out music just because it was my escape.
i had no where to go to, no one to turn to.
playing the guitar was my only escape.
that was 5-6 years ago.

started a band 2 years after that. But then again, the other members werent that commited due to relationship issues.

so it became inactive till 3 months ago tey suddenly wanted to play again.
now, im playing the guitar for the love and passion.

i never onced did it for the fame.
i always let others shine before me.
even if i was the composer for and original song,
i deny all facts and just push it to the others.
i do not want to be in the limelight ever.
i just want to play.

what say you rockito?
what are your views?
and this is just a friendly question.
i want to know your veiws on this.

maybe its because nobody questioning the facts anymore. Hence, no more rebutting for me. No more long posts.

more focus on the topic now.

i thought this was supposed to be a discussion? to share our views. whats with the rebuttals? are we in some sort of a debate here?

I don't know if you ever feel like being that musician who's up on that stage, being the centre of attention of thousands of people, being the driver of the whole show... because I do. Hah.
I had an experience a couple of months back, playing for a small function, not exactly being a Centre Of Attraction nor Driver of the whole show....because I'm quite new into Performing....I learn a valuable lesson here.

I was playing the drums with my own Band, then I look around and a a few beautiful girls looking at me (I'm alittle Flashy in the way I drums - like dancing like that) which I learn from a fellow Drummer at DXS...Hahahaha and since then I drum like this.

When the Cha-Bo's look at me - suddenly my head become big, then become more flashy (like show-off) - This is very bad (as I learn from my this lesson) as I sway away, showing more stuffs and it's really bad...I should not be doing this...But well, everyone learns from mistakes right? - so I will not do that ever again - just stay focus on my band and never to Sway Away in any kind of circumstances....The last words my Band-Leader told me (you're a Fxxking Show-Off har just now) - I told him "as to why, like the above I've quoted quoted" ..and he laugh at me saying "Yes I knew it - I was waiting if you tell me the Truth" ...Hahaha and so I learn.

PS Sidenote To everyone here: - Oh ! and just to add - I think Rockito is doing very fine now here, and we're all Soft's Brothers (What's over is over now), let's stick on to the Topic on hand - there is no Flaming or Rebutting or whatever here - just an exchange of Opinion that got a little heated-up that's all - and everyone is still learning everyday - just like myself.

Cheers - you are all great people....

Eric

Bro rudimental -dun worry, more beautiful char bohs in ur upcoming project with bro Tetra ;)

Anybody game to form a GLAM ROCK band that plays only for fame and fortune??

Everybody in the band must have an objective of wanting the glam-ness, else not eligible to join.

Taking as many instrumentalists as possible, probably make like a rock'n'roll version of Slipknot.

How?
