yeah.. its not about technique.. no one says good music must shred right? no one say good music must play up to 40mins right? im not saying punkrock are good music.. good music lies on the listener, if u like it den its good music. to me theres no bad music, theres only music whether u like or not.. :) the period of those music u talking about is over i think.. pop punk still gonna be the mainstream for a couple of years.. and of cos.. they are more radio friendly.. blame it on the world then.. life is unfair.. metallica dont get their master of puppets or sanitarium played on radio.. and its bcos they are long as u all have said.. dream theater up to 20mins soloing.. that dont get them on radio..

another reason is blame it on those american kids.. they bring the mainstreem to punkrock.. all the 15 ,16 yr old kids are actin punk.. u see any 15, 16 etc acting like metalheads? -_-'

As much as people grow out of music genres to listen to new stuff, hopefully there will be those who grow out of forumming for the sake of things other than dishing out destructive criticism...

What are you saying man??? Just because YOU think that Blink is so bloody great enuf to attract a crowd, doesnt mean you dont need to check out the crowds of other bands.

You're making sweeping statements that bands like Metalli-own ur ass-CA, and Guns and Fucking Rose can only have crowd to match half of what blink have.

The truth is, Metallica fanbase is has a more worldwide coverage than you think. and the thing is if you like metallica 3 years ago, you wont turn around and dis them now. Same goes for GNR. The songs never get out style. They become the classics ppl will always remember them for. Albums like Appetite for Destruction, The Black album, ride the fuckin lightning.

These albums are still selling today!

And anyway, Punk aint suppose to suppose to sound like that, for real punk, you should take a listen to the Ramones or something. Blink is like totally pop orientated, its more like a pop scene than a rock one.

Its all Music. Diverse in this time and age, and thankfully unpredictable for those who love creatvity, innovation and the artistry of the human heart and mind.

I'm not saying that those who only listen to select genres have no right to speak, but maybe its time to listen to others objectively?

Look at Anthony and James, I'm sure they have their personal musical preferences, but they still groove along with the bands they do gigs for, regardless of their musical genres...

Pardon me if i cannot relate to the opinionated, but i'm trying :)

i ain't into punk rock, i listen to songs by punk rock greats but i also have songs from marty friedman, jason becker, malmsteen yadda yadda yadda..

the ways of the music industry is already like that. punk rock is the "in" thing right now. Blink 182 may have disbanded...maybe punk rock will stop being the mainstream tune after they disband..then the next music fad will be "THE NEXT BIG THING THE INDUSTRY MARKETS OUT TO THE LISTENERS"

I cannot define you as a unique individual also if u can shred til smoke comes out of ur guitar lah.. it's simply just a higher level of playing..i'll respect players for that. Technique is not everything..if it was, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Queensryche, Malmsteen etc all would've played their concerts here for at least 10 times already...

The thing i like about rock music compared to pop .... Those MTV Pop music the artists fans only follow them awhile then once got new bands they become less and less popular ... Rock artists the longer they're in the game the more respected they become .... Though i don't really respect metallica as much as i did 10 years ago ....
 
all these bands/artists are the product of a commercialised music industry which are agressively marketed to the masses which comprises of mostly simpletons who have simple taste for music.

it all comes down to the "target market". If im a record label and wanna make lots of money, i would definitely sign a band like blink182 because i know most ppl can easily appreciate simple catchy tunes....wat the heck

my point is that this is a totally different thing from what we guys are listening to so it should never be discussed under the same context..

i believe that when all these virtuoso dudes - eg. yngwie - write a song..they never intend it to be a "hit" with people but rather, an artistic expression of his inner soul...thats the diff between real music and the above mentioned MTV crap

Its people's choice that they just like blink and don't want to check out other. I know its not a good thing, but you cannot control the people rite.

I think you are big Metallica fan. That's why you're trying to say metallica is everyway better than blink and have even more fans. Yeah, metallica is obviously better than blink in playing. so u trying to pyscho everyone abt gnr and metallica? no offence. but too bad im a blink fan. (cause im 16 years old and people of my age doesnt noe the world)...

i'm a fan of Guns N Roses and Metallica....in fact i salute every member of GNR and Metallica because they deserve to bear the title of a rock/metal band...i personally feel that rock music of today has lost it's touch.wad happened to 1 minute of solos we use to hear from Guns N Roses and Metallica???? even the closest we can get of today is alter bridge open your eyes solo by mark tremonti...even that solo is even less than a minute probably about 20 seconds at least...

shadows fall is good. listen to their songs and u ll know metal havent die...
 
the solo in open your eyes are mostly repeated notes.it's juz that MTV shows mark shredding on the guitar but little did the mainstream people know that he's juz shredding on repeated notes which makes him look "pro"
