King of POP has passed away. RIP Michael Jackson.

Perhaps one of the most misunderstood and loved souls of this world.
Our generation has been lucky enough to witness the rise of a truly talented and one-of-a-kind artist. Many have come and gone, but Michael Jackson will always remain the undispusted King Of Pop.

Forget the media circus that surrounded him, forget all the negative press. Cause at the end of the day, this single man has contributed so much to music as we know it today. He revitalized pop, people from every corner of the world know his name and have heard his music, he transcended fads and fashion and remained an icon for decades. He holds the record for having the best selling album of ALL TIME, a feat that hundreds of thousands of people have never come close to beating. His dance moves were mimicked but never matched. His music videos revolutionalized the concept of mixing music with movement and video to what we know it to be today. Any single man who can rise to such heights is to be respected and admired, if not for his talents, then for his accomplishments as an artist.

As a testiment to how truly remarkable his achievements are, one only needs to walk to a nearby coffee shop, cafe, shopping center, stadium, toilet, etc here in Singapore, tens of thousands of miles away from the US, and ask ANYONE if they have heard of Michael Jackson. I guarantee you every single person who is capable of speaking will know who he is.

This world never brought MJ any peace. So all I can say is, I hope his soul can finally be happy and at rest wherever he is now. It is the least he deserves for all his accomplishments that have shaped not just the music world but the entertainment industry to what it is today.

Been listening to his 'Number Ones' album the whole day, it's quite surreal thinking this guy I'm listening to just passed away today.

He truly is one of the greatest artists of all time, if not THE greatest musical icon to have ever lived. Everything about him transcends time. His music sounds current even though it was created more than a decade ago, his fashion, especially the black jacket, white shirt, black shoes and black pants revealing white socks, no one else could have pulled that off better than Michael Jackson himself.

Really sad that he had to die so suddenly, and possibly before his time.

rip michael jackson. you are a great inspiration to me. His music was the first ever music that i listen to. I remembered during kindergarten. I literally begged my parents to buy his CD and his videographies for me. He was my 1st ever favourite singer and will always will be. imy MJ

Even though our main influence of the music we prefer may be rock, metal,hardcore, punk, classical etc...deep down inside we actually have a liking for the man's music even though we are too ashamed to admit it ourselves. That shows MJ's music and fashion had a great impact on all walks of life.

I find it hard to accept that he's gone. Its like the end of an era for popular music.

early this morning my friend in US told me this news all i could react is"NOOOOOOO"
then i felt tears in my eyes.
the first album i bought and the first music video i could remember both from him.
if it was not him i wouldnt be a kid so into music.
he's always my 1st influence on music.
the whole thing's so surreal.
so shocking so heart-breaking.

but..maybe he finally can return to his neverland...
