JOIN a band trend, good or bad thing?

i wanna be in a band cos it's really cool...u get all the attention around...esp when u sling ur axe dman low

I think it's good that more pple r into bands now, prob due to the superband and stuffs... when there are more bands, there will bound to be an increase in quality!
In any case, it beats sitting in front of the telly or pc playing maple story haha - so many kids r addicted to online games nowadays... where did all the mahsah go?

Hmm.

I find that it's kinda like the influence of MTV all over again.. with the rise of Emo bands and even with 60's clones The Click Five, kids are starting to take note of the 'coolness factor' of being in a band. Last time it was 80's bands like Bon Jovi etc.. then came Nirvana and/or Metallica.. now it seems alot of kids want to be another axe-slinging-low blowhard.

However I hope being in a band teaches them a positive lesson, instead of the rubbish things such as how to look cool, what name is cool, what colour/clothing theme etc.

What lesson you may ask? The lesson of compromising musical tastes.. sharing of limelight, proper studio/forum/music store etiquette etc etc.

Not forgetting proper musicianship and self-protection: not to do gigs for crap pay etc. (unless they are truly crap)

below vermin; cockroaches. at least vermin had some guile

is the burden of independent thought wearing you down? do you dread the indecision that awaits every time you open your wardrobe? are you embarassed by your reticence when you hear other people discuss current affairs, music, relationships, etcetera?

don't worry, you're not alone. help is just a pair of clippers away!

we've helped thousands of sad losers avoid confronting their loneliness and inadequacy, and we can do the same for you.

we'll tell you what to wear. we'll tell you what to think. we'll tell you what music to listen to. and most importantly, we'll bring you together with lots of people exactly the same as yourself - it's just like having friends!

But the thing is...not many famous mainstream bands' guitarist are slinglow low right? Like Green Day's Billie Joe is the only one who's slinging low? Just so happened it's my favorite band...lol...

Hmm.

Low-slingers:

Jimmy Page
Slash
Hide
Dave Kushner
Ritchie Sambora
Kurt Cobain
Billy Joel Armstrong
Malmsteem (maybe he is more 'mid-range'?)

(and many more from the warped, vans, ozzfest tours)

these guys are the mainstream axemen throughout from the late 60's to now. So tell me, out of the above-mentioned list, how many of them are not influencial on today's image-consious teenage axe-slinger-wannabe?

Frankly. None of them inspired me because I don't listen to them? Except... Billy Joe, coz I learnt 2 green day songs when I was starting guitar. Does that count?

I like how that fella from rage against the machine rock out with his tele strapped to his chest!!!
