James Tyler guitars

Got an answer from Flint:
Well, as you can see in the photo, I had him sign it. Then took it back to Jim and had him clear over the contour.

Some of the photos in threads don't show up here in the office as they may have been uploaded from filtered sites. Anyways, congrats again and keep us posted. That's a very good price for a Tyler.

Well, I dun think I mention anything about tyler's price. I was referring to the Nash. Well different dealers have different profit margin, and there are other factors like taxes and all. But let's not talk about the price here. I've never personally tried an iw, well once only... But I dint like the feel of it... Too 'rough' haha. But I've a question, If these iw are really rare and limited blah blah blah, why doesn't it's price increase? But then again, will any guitars today, Tyler or not, appreciate in value? I only know that when he stop production a few years back the prices appreciated. I'm not a shmer guy, a nice classic would do fine for me. I dun like the puke colour. What bout u?

Thanks Edgie... the wait is def excruciating haha but then again yeah it was a good price! :D Hope to see ur BW when its done!

@dorngo: I assumed you were talking about the price here, taken from your post on the other thread:
"The last time I wa there the tyler's are generally ard 6-8, while Nash are 3-4 and teye are 5-32. I'm not sure if they revised the price, but it's roughly there."

And btw, even if you did not tell us the price, some of us here have already inquired before and the price they quoted is high. It's quite a well-known fact here among those who are into high-end guitars. I would have wanted to check out their guitars but since I know I'm not buying due to the price, I don't want to waste their time and effort. One of their guys, Ray, is an acquaintance and I definitely have not problems with him so just in case, please don't take this as dissing them, I'm just stating the facts. : )

Yes, you are right that there are factors to be considered such as overheads here in Singapore, but the thing is we're still in Asia, not in Europe where taxes are as high as 20%(UK) or more. Hongkong is only 3 1/2 hours away by plane and yet the dealer there can price it for 2k+ less than what they're asking here considering we only have 7% tax to worry about. They too have overheads there to mind and from what I know, space rentals there are more expensive. Also, as a reference, shipping is only 200usd(250sgd) from the US to Singapore.

You mean the neck is rough or the overall construction is not even?

As for your question about the IW, it's mostly about the economy now. Nothing is sacred now as far as gear is concerned. Used is used. I recently came across a topic on the falling prices of the vintage stuff. Some '63 strats that were priced at 80kusd during the pre-recession cannot even sell for 30k. Also, Ice Waters are relatively still new to become a sought-after classic. You're actually buying it just for the paint and Brazilian rosewood in relation to other Tylers since feature-wise it's the same as the others. Correct me if i'm wrong, they don't even have birdseye maple necks, a 450usd upgrade, mind you.: )

I prefer schmears over the classic colors since it's what gives uniqueness to the Tylers. Aesthetically, it accentuates that hot-rodded vibe and attitude.

Thanks Edgie... the wait is def excruciating haha but then again yeah it was a good price! :D Hope to see ur BW when its done!

How long till yours will get here? At least yours is already made just ready for shipping.

I was quoted 6 painful months. I need an adjective more than excruciating. Something 5 notches higher. lol.

Payment was just received so I would expect sometime next week?
Six months is certainly a long wait haha but like any other situation/thing, once u open the case, you'll forget all about the waiting time!

Let's keep this conversation on the guitars and not the price of it. :) I think I did not mention anything about it being cheap in the other post. K let's end this here. I'll be in hk in dec too, and I'm looking to get my hand on a godin acs while there. The service in ranking suck, so yeah. And I read a post here that they R in trouble with line 6 right? Anyone can verify? Well yeah, shmers are what made rulers unique but I find them... Too strong'. Too flashy haha. But their tobacco flame is beautiful, that's my dream guitar haha. Well that iw tt I tried feels dry. The tone is dry... Like... Ermm... Not what I would expect from a tyler. But it's just me. What Tyler do u own edgie? Bw?

BW = Burning Water. I don't have it yet. I ordered a custom that will take 6 months because I don't have the capacity to plunk in a huge amount of money in one go. At least that way I will have time to save up, I just had to produce the 30% deposit to start the build. But with Tyler moving to a better facility, I really hope I can have it in less than 6 since Tom Chambers told me they'll try their best to finish it with that lead time.

No, it's not 2k(no blue and gold edge on flames), it's the original pattern of BW(with blue and yellow edge on flames) but fully-painted. It's got a mid-boost with bypass switch and a matching headstock.

Hey Edgie, sounds like it would be an awesome BW!
Could you give a rundown on the specs especially the body wood and pickups!

Thanks, I really hope it would be. If not, I'll be very upset. haha.

Anyway, here's the specs I ordered:
Alder body
Indian Rosewood fingerboard with white fretboard markers
Fully-painted Original BW finish
Matching BW headstock finish
G2RV bridge
JTS2500 neck and middle pickups white covers, Supercharged Studebaker bridge pickup (Chrome covered)

Chrome Hardware
Mid boost with bypass button
Quartersawn maple
Standard '59 neckshape
1 5/8" width at nut

I think I'm the only guy for now who came up with these specs. Tom told me they have only made 3 BW's with matching headstocks. IIRC, the other 2 are BW2k models. I want mine to be a hybrid of the 2 BW patterns. I also requested for medium blue hues. I saw some BW's with very minimal blue while others like the Extreme BW has too much for my tastes.: )

Hey Edgie,

Looks good and was wondering could you drop me a PM on the price? :D
I'm def interested in specing out a Tyler!

It seems Christmas will be earlier than expected for me, Lance of Wildwood told me my order is ready. Here's one of the pics he sent me:

Nice gray man! You bought it at Guitar East, I suppose?

Thanks for the compliments on the guitar but with due respect man, let's control our caps and punctuation marks, it's kinda hard to read. : ) I will try my best to upload clips although I've never really done that on my gear.

Congrats man! To think that the other half of that model(for those who don't know, only 2 of this color was ever made), and the #1, is here in Singapore is just amazing! It's like having the issue #1 of the Amazing Spider Man comics.: )
