hi, i been playing my guitar for some times now, and have save up quite abit. I got a budget of 500+/-. Im hoping to get a multi fx to get some smooth creamy sound, some twangy, and some mild overdrive. I need a small one, boss me-50 is currently on my mind. Will that that be able to achieve the sound im looking for? My main sound is something creamy smooth. If i practise by plugging guitar->multifx->com will the sound be decent? Or will line 6 toneport be a better choice?

many people are of the opinion that the Korg AX-3000G is the most value for money multi effects...

http://www.luthermusic.com/cgi-bin/WB_ItemPageGen.pl?t=1158831932&Pid=217&Gid=2100800

its $450 at luther musicworks...

if u plug in the the com, and play it through com speakers... it'll sound like a guitar... but it won't sound good... due to the type of amplification (PA style, it reproduces EXACTLY what the input is) and the speaker cones of ur speaker (not designed to produce electric guitar sounds)..

u'll only have the latter to worry about if ur multi efx has a amp modelling function. :D

My Choice ... is POD 2.0 , or if u can get is korg ax 1000 out of production ones... hm.... yuppp i think thats all .... POD is the reccomended ones... maybe ...

(korg)ax1500g,ax3000g,(boss)gt8 or a (line 6)pod xt live.. best three i've ever tested... with a range of 500, the ax series can all be gotten for first hand... can get the xtlive and gt8 for second hand around that price.. probably have to pay a bit more...

I dont really like Zoom man ... hard to do the settings ... korg ax 1500 can be edited easily cuz its straight forward ... i bought zoom fo 2 weeks and sell it off ...

Well, the AX3000G is by far the most value for money in my opinion. Some might think it's too digital, but for a multi efx it really digs serious business. I've owned a Zoom G2.1u before, it's so-so and did not last long with me. Like you, i've tried all sorts of multi efx, including the Pod ones. For your budget, you would be extremely pleased with the AX3000G. It's not the best, with the likes of GT8 to haunt it's credibility. Nonetheless, for it's price range, you need better competing units out there to match the services it'll provide you, be it on stage or off. :)

i vote for POD xt... after listening to the sound that piece can reproduce... amazing.... by far i think that's the best.... i hv yet to heard korg 3000.... but other than that invest on a POD xt if u r thinking of a mulit.......

if you want a good sounding pedal, steer clear of the korg 3000. its got the most cardboard-ish sounding distortion which sounds awfully crappy. and cleans sounding really like crap. or maybe it's just my guitarist who dosent know how to set it properly.

y is no 1 talking abt G SYSTEM again? damn you guys are missing out the great thing for multi effects!

i think i saw someone selling a gt8 in luther for 500.. its definately worth it.. given the functions... go check it out..
