I cannot believe the hogwash...

Squirrel, from the way you're acting..

You sound like..

1) one without proper morals.

6) stop being a douche and a dick.

7) seriously, I don't think you've even gotten laid before

8) I think most of us here are rather rightful minded, and only get laid after marriage, geez. fornication isn't good my friend. even with the new vaccine against HIV.

Yupp I have completely no morals cause your's truly just scored in the last few minutes.

8 just contradicted 1 but oh well I do that too.

Fornication is my best friend, provided the chic is hot.

I love being a kid

anyway.. looks like the link on the site has been pulled.

and squirrel, you do bear similar resemblance (in typing as well as your defense of Gibson) to a fellow member here who seems to have recently disappeared.

hmmmm.

@ Jordan, they were actually priced pretty cheap. From what I saw on the site i believe it was $299 usd for the "little wing" package model, and then it moves upwards for the other models..

Hey man ! CONGRATS you're dead on. I am a certain someone but just for fun, name me. Anyway you're 16 so that makes you a kid as well. Not offended by Mr Lionel a.k.a whitestrat.? Kids don't know anything according to him.

I'm gonna wade in and get the hell out.

Things are getting cocked up here. Whoever may have feel aggrieved at first, as well as the 2nd party, just leave it. It's all Gibson's fault~

An argument don't get won by snide remarks. If your an officer, squirrel, do uphold some things I'm sure you had picked up at Upper Jurong Road.

Engel, I don't agree with you with your 'break the mold' statement of someone therefore being destined for greater things. Its your prerogative to be loud and proud, but do mind where you put your boot on. But that's not for discussion here.

softies... lets just end this ..

i dont care if some1 telling me stupid at english
the important thing is..
the more knowledge each ppl has... he has to become wiser
respect other and they will respect you in return

@j_m_s .. yes.. gibson today ... they should thanks to Ted McCarthy ... he make Gibson bigger ... +1 to PRS

@whitestrat .. thx .. im ok man.. :) ... better still , and listening...

@squirrel... hey buddy whats ur name?
come on ... those r not what a mature man does ... just kill it... chill out... u may required more people at softies for sharing... pay some respect to them , they care 'bout u .. well, u know what to do right?

This suddenly came to my mind that I found quite amusing. The fact that Gibson could release something costing below $500, perhaps one day there'll be a TGM costing $4K that'll also disappear due to absolute lack of sales.

Actually, yes. That's very possible... In fact, look forward to it... Look where Ibanez went?

Kids don't know anything according to him.

Why don't you go scurry up a tree, gnaw on an acorn, grow up a bit then you might realise that kids really don't know much. Get laid? Fornication? Oh good grief. *shakes head*

I know you're wise and old but that also means that you'll be in the ground before me. Don't you just love the karma.

This is another sign of how stupid you can be... Karma? erm... I was born BEFORE you... I've lived a good live BEFORE you were born. I probably will die BEFORE you... It's all perspective... What Karma is that?

Small BOY.

P.S. I sign my real name off at every post because I'm not afraid to let people know who I am. Do you at least have the balls to do that?;)

You know, aside from the usual Gibson brand bashing, I loved it when they released stuff like the Robot and the Darkfire. That was a company to me who at least was trying. Much like how Ted McCarty did in the 60s with the Explorer, Flying V and Firebirds. This Darkfire to me was taking a calculated risk! Then improving the Les Paul Standard and shifting the old standard model into the Traditional alley. That was a stroke of marketing genius to me.

But this... atrocity... *sigh*...

point 11 contradicts what Gibson says...

Gibson sued PRS for the singlecut shape, on the basis that someone would enter a shop and buy a PRS, thinking that it was a Gibson because of the body shape.

but now, isn't Gibson doing the same to Fender as what PRS has done to Gibson?

Well, i guess everyone tried to push limits when it comes to the law. The PRS case was thrown out, but Fender's case was ruled against Fender, releasing the body shape for replication without having to pay royalties. So while Gibson couldn't stop PRS from making the singlecut, they sure as hell would try taking advantage of Fender's loss.

Whats ironic about that case was, although it was Fender's right to defend their commercial design property, Leo Fender designed the guitar in the first place exactly to allow replication and replacement. It was the ease of construction that made it so easy to copy. And he made it easy to build simply so that guitarists could replace any parts you liked. Just sad that FMIC (and even CBS) tried to control everything, and force you to buy a neck from Warmoth or Allparts if yours broke with "officially licensed parts".

yeah most of ppl prefer vintage gibson... so gibson made the VOS :p he he nice marketing strategies..
yeps i like the robot guitar...
and i hope gibson can improve their QC more

this is my personal opinion...
IF the late 60's above use a certain mahogany, then the gibson original vintage stuff is better than the VOS ..a really old mahogany... it has a dark red colored.... yes! the best mahogany has dark red colored grain .. really heavy ... from a really old tree ,,, u can imagine how big was the diameter :) it has a very smooth grain... i love it..
if gibson really use that wood on his VOS , maintaining the vintage spec... it would be great ...

the mahoganies nowadays are cream colored ... its a young mahogany ... maybe it looks red at the first time...when u shave it.. it shows cream color.. they r good... i didnt say they were bad.... but not as good as the red one...

NB: if u have the gibson factory tour video .. u can check it.. what kind of wood they used for the guitars... u can search them on youtube

when u get a red / dark red colored mahoganies ... u r lucky... its difficult to find now .. hehe i have some ... i use it on my neck.... u see the dark red colored wood on my 3 pc neck ? thats the old mahogany... no matter how deep u shave the wood... it still remain the same dark red grain ..

ill post my new neck pic later ... ill let u see the difference between the old mahogany (dark red) and the young mahogany (cream) ull notice really big differences... the grain , the weight, the color

How can we tell what colour the wood in a 60s Gibson was originally? Wouldn't 30 years have aged the wood further? Although some Gibsons are quite light today, even when unchambered, there are some which are quite heavy. (like my Slash)

Do you know the difference the wood would make tonally due to age? I know the general belief is that aged = better, but what difference would it yield?

@whitestrat yes.. 30 years can aged the wood.. change the tone, and the water content :) but if it has a cream color.. it wont turn to red color , and it wont change the grain too.. :)
um i think we have to prove it... if u have the original vintage gibson on that period of time... open the PU rings . shave the body under PU cavity a little by little... till it show the original grain.. 'coz the wood it self absobs the paint, so we have to shave it till the original grain shows up...
use something sharp... like razor or anything ..

and for the neck.. check the tuners hole.. remove the tuners... see the hole.. is it covered in paint or not? if its covered in paint.. ehehe dont shave it, leave it ... open the truss rod cover then.. see the wood under the f board.. i hope it dont covered in black

on that period of time we can found many or maybe huge number of dark red mahogany...
but.. not now... we can barely find old mahogany trees ...
the weight...
the old mahoganies r heavier than the young mahogany ... even though it has been dried up and aged...

ok this is it
here

This is great info... Meaning, I should go tell my builder to choose a dark red Honduran Mahogany for the guitar he's building for me... Is it stronger than the younger variety?

I think that you guys should just chill...its pretty obvious squirrel just decided to take a piss here and all of you are suckers for giving him the unecessary attention that he was craving for.

Anyways, back to the topic, I wouldnt mind trying out a Gibson Strat for starters. Not sure if I would actually buy one though...it depends

Well here's the deal, I just got back from a long posting out and hell I thought it would be funny to bait and piss people off on an online forum. Whadayaknow it does work on people like you Lionel. Anyway if you wanna meet up, I'm more than game for it and JMS dude, It's only a forum. No matter how polite you are, it's still a forum.
