I am just TOTALLY PISSED OFF with service in Singapore

Sid, come to my thread, Songs that Speak Volumes.

We should dump all our gear.... we only need soul and an acoustic.

bluepowder, citymusic should have called. i know they do coz the last time i left my name, they called me when the item came. they prob made a mistake with yours.

but covering a mistake with another just ain't cutting the deal right... and unfortunately, most guitar shops in sg are monopoly...

all shops have their short fall lah. but in general, all shops in singapore really has got some service to improve on. sorry to say, this includes G77 and the all friendly luthermusic.

but best customer service in my list? luthermusic.

not much actually, but i guess on their side perhaps its a lot.

Actually i was just thinking that from time to time, often there will be threads on the local shop and their customer service, but why dont we make a big fuss and demand our rights by requesting to talk to their management and expect a solution/explanation by being harsh instead of doing it online.

After the online bashing, things still doesnt seem to get done or solve, except that we might feel better and nothing else. Of course unless feeling better is a bigger priority..

just my 0.0002 cent and imho

as much as love to it at Long John Silver, i've come across a number of rude cashiers... Just like one today... Asking for a plastic spoon seems too be a problem for one who gave a glaring look...

infernox..dun u noe..

for them to take a spoon..they lose 3/4 of their pay..

and infernox im nt rolling my (or the emoticons) eye at you..

but im rolling it at them.

i did this once..and it solved the problem..

the next time smth like tt happens..u say..

"hey..wads with tt look??do i owe u money??"

hehe..the problem with these shops is...the only guys who can actually do something or find a solution are not present at the shop..the immediate managers are just as moronic as the salesguys...it was actually the manager im guessing who made up the lil white lie

dude

City Music is sucky dude, all their employees have attitude and they do not serve the customers properly. Giving that stuck up and crappy face. Go to other shops :D

That day happen to me at KFC by this lady ... Dunno what's her problem ... When i ask for spoon and chili that kind of basic stuff supposed to be give without asking(cheese fries, as much as i enjoy using my hands to eat it sometimes i need to use fork), she give me that sarcastic smile and then give the fork .. then i ask again, then give the chili sauce ...

I took guitar lessons at City Music for a period of time. Didn't have much of a problem with unfriendly salespersons though.

Although one incident in particular comes to mind.

I left a deposit there for a long period of time after I stopped my lessons, as it clean slipped my mind till they gave me a call to remind me to come by and pick it up.

A week later, I did, but to my absolute horror, after going all the way down to Peace Centre (I live in Bukit Panjang and I don't drive), I was told that the deposit wasn't with them.

I left the place empty handed, and I told them to give me a call when they located my it.

A few weeks later I got another call from them to inform me that my money was ready and waiting, and all i had to do was to go to the shop and look for someone they apparently called the "accountant" (I highly doubt she was placed therefor this purpose).

I went all the way down to City Music again. Not surprisingly, they still hadn't found my deposit. Several minutes of hell-raising and a phone call later, I was promised that they would locate it within the week.

It's been 5 months and I still haven't heard anything from them.

From what I gathered talking to the people in City Music, it seems like they have really major issues with communication and apparently there's some level of hostility between certain members of their staff. I reckon this could be the root cause of their poor service attitude.

I personally believe that the management should have some sense to look into the matter before the shit hits the fan and this situation blows up in their face.

oh i think its blowing up for sure..and i know what a bitch it can be to travel..trust me...

I live in NTU  im not sure if im technically a part of malaysia....

i think for ppl really interested in service oriented shops....go check out all the music gear shops in singapore...a lot of them are better now...esp if u know the salesperson..

I dunno what it is...but City music just has an attitude that i havent seen anywhere else...like they r doin us a favour when we shop from them :?

There always seems to be more of a preference to any non asian...dunno why..I thought it was only the women intitially....

to add, they also prefer to entertain if you are any of the following.. :D

a. professional looking
b. old man dressed decently
c. kid shopping with mom/dad
d. already bought a few guitars from them

an example for A which happened to a few stores in peninsula and bras basah  , i went to the stores on different days. one was during work at lunch time on a weekdays so i was quite presentable :D . got good service. the following weekends, went to the same shop wearing jeans and shirt, usually ignored. :D

an example for B happened at citymusic(intentionally named this since its on the topic), i was at the store waiting for someone to assist me, but they seem to intentionally ignore me by trying to look busy..an old man came in and stand right beside me looking at the martin guitars, result = a staff approached and entertained him.. :D

an example of C happened at a shop in bras basah and at s shop in peninsula. the shop reprimands you when you are left alone inside the glass house, when in fact there i was originally accompanied by a staff who went out to attend to something. then another kid and his rich looking dad, was left inside the glass house trying out the custom shop guitars without like it was a display model. result - a senior staff noticed this and asked the staffs, staffs now laughing as to who should have assisted the kid and dad. the two were never reprimanded in anyway and was entertained/assisted for quite a time. :D

an example for D is at a shop in peninsula, when i have not bought a guitar yet, totally dismissed by the old man and old lady, old lady even gives me that dagger look like i might break or steal something. then after a few weeks, bought a mid-end guitar from them and a practice amp, the uncle now shows a little smile. wife still the same. a few months of looking around and now receiving a standard customer treatment. the old man chats with me once in a while informing of upcoming shipments and new products. a few months after i bought another guitar from them, and guess what, the uncle now smiles and even greets me while im at the doorsteps of other shops.. :D but i must commend the male chinese salesguy there, totally approachable from the start..

oh yes i gotta add to this list since it is abt city music and our gripes with them. and incident comes to mind.

last year july i decided to get my dad a birthday present so my brother and i pooled money together to get him a martin acoustic. i went there a day before his birthday and tried out the acoustic for an hour den i called my dad down during lunch hour to test it and buy it.

almost a year later i go back cos i wanted to test out the vox tonelab SE multieffects pedal. i spend less than half an hour testing the pedal. but im a direct guitar > amp user so i found it pretty hard to dial in any kinda tone i wanted out of it. the name of the sales person who was attending me was Gary Foo. i tried to ask him a few questions abt the pedal but he was really impatient and brushed me off telling me that i should try the presets which i already did and didnt like. den he told me: "u look familiar. ure the one who always comes down to test pedal but never buy" so i told him nicely that he was mistaken and it was my first time testing out the pedal.

den just recently i went down with kx to city music cos kx was looking for a multieffects which was lighter than his current pedal which is the tonelab SE. so i just hung around while kx tested a few zoom and korg multieffects. i didnt touch the guitar, only aided in stooping down to help do some tweaking while kx savoured all the tones produced. we took a while, prob around an hour but then all the effects were pricey and we didnt wanna do a botched job of not testing out the effects full capability. then gary came along. when he saw me he glared and me and said: "u not paiseh is it? always come here try pedal but never buy?"

this time i couldnt take it and i told him to watch it as his so called service was shit. i told him i only tried the pedal once and on that day i didnt even try it but rather a friend was trying it. den he told me i was wrong and that he saw me b4 so i told him that yes, he was right and i was there a year ago and i bought the martin, and he kept insisting that i was wrong cos i was there b4. Gary Fool, u are indeed a big fool.

Service like that will always be remembered like the smell of urine after its long dried. i dont think i will ever go back to city music unless they fire him or do something abt such retarded customer service.
