I am just TOTALLY PISSED OFF with service in Singapore

sigh.....i have no choice but to agree you that Singapore's service, hate to say this, is sorely lacking. :(

I'm with bluepowder on this one, honestly there is no contest from the shop's perspective. Least they could do is own up to the mistake and apologize as the damage is done, so to say.

Not to add fuel to this thread, i had a 1st hand experience of ordering an item with Citymusic. Item arrived on stated date by employee who took the order from me, called me up. I promptly went down and collected, till about 2 weeks later i receive a call from Citymusic stating i have not collected the abovementioned item. Truly a paiseh moment for the caller

I honestly hope they would improved the communication methods between their staff or a better system of management.

bluepowder,

I think this is just one of those few exceptional cases. IMO, CityMusic folks are the friendliest pple around in this music business. Indeed, there was some miscomm out there in your case. Now that they realised the mistake, did you give them a 2nd chance to get them to place the order for you again? I'm sure they will take it more seriously. I had never encounter such bad service there before.

The folks at CityMusic are like friends, they do communicate well with one another. Unlike another shop, where salesman1 quote you one selling price, and salesman2 quote you another, that's worse right? They even quarrel when customers are around...

Anyway, give CM a try again. They're nice pple.

Yup, service can be bad in Singapore. I went to Swee Lee to purchase the Boss Ce 2b chorus and a few accessories last week. The sales assistant (M/Chinese/20 - 23 yrs of age wearing glasses, medium length/straight hair/a thin lanky decent guy, ht @1.7m, weight @58-65 kgs) was nice. He went through the details with me and even roped in his colleague when he wasnt sure of which adaptor and the daisy chain that im interested in goes best with some of my effects. Both of them are commendable however little to be said of the "Seniors" manning the cashier counter. (Theres no customer at the counter, its a weekday) Well despite me standing there, the rest of the staff was "Busy" warming up their seats manning their pc. Its quite pathetic to see some of them glancing at me, with the corner of their eyes hoping that one of the "Seniors" will come forward and do the transaction. It took me @10 minutes until finally one of them (A mly guy, tanned complexion)came forward (Ironically he was from the the far end). That's why I prefer to purchase my items overseas whenever im on attachment or through people that I knew going overseas.

On the issue of service, anyone wanna share their bad and good after sales service with regards to all the music stores in Singapore ?

Were/are you in the police force, Iman?

Well we always get dis kinda of bullshit in spore is bcoz da pple in dat line of work r juz workers n they tk a basic pay(i asuume).. So naturally dey aint got no passion or any drive 4 their werk.. To em pple like us comin in r juz a routine.... N most of da time da person dat is important n has invested in da store 2 make money is not there.. N theres where their salesman get big headed...
And wen we complain normally da complain wont get 2 a pair of ear dat will change anything... So we muz always noe whom we muz complain 2 so as 2 get it effective..
But 2 me da big reason is dat there is not much competion ard... Dat is 1 of the biggest reason for em slackin....

Good Thread - There are rooms for improvement. What make it worst is that each of these stores carry certain products and that made them the monopoly. If you want certain brands, you have no choice but to go back to them. What to do? No competition, no improvement.

Well ok let me go ahead and give a few more details...now alright maybe this could be classified as rogue case....but there are a lotta other things that happened as well:
In answer to someones questions,if i gave them a second chance...they didnt really want one because they changed their story saying....The Stock never came in ..in the first place...teh salesman was mistaken that he sold it to someone...and apparently stock is coming in again in about 3 months!!!last time when i went 3 weeks back...I was told oh stock should be coming in soon in a couple of weeks...it was OBVIOUS they just didnt call me

More examples of their bad service...There is one particular salesguy who is just a total pain....When i walked in 3 weeks back..the store is empty...all the salesguys are at the counter gossipping...so I take a round and ask someone to help me...they said ...'umm ok' what do u want...I said I need some explanation on some products...the guys says oh no sorry I cant demo it for you right now!!..
"hmm ok' whats the price of the item?..and this one"

The salesperson then proceeds to tell me...why dont you decide what all you want to buy and come back to me later...!!???

Another occassion...the same sales guy was enthusiastically demoing all the units and getting mics and guitars and recording tracks for him....ofcourse the customer was WHITE!!

There always seems to be more of a preference to any non asian...dunno why..I thought it was only the women intitially....

But it doesnt end here....City Music is the ONLY shop where a salesguy shouted at me....I was enquiring about VOX AC30 amps...was genuinely interested in buying one...they were offering discounts on a lot of products...so before trying out the vox I asked is there any discount on this amp...the salesguy informed me that there was none..fine..I tested it...liked it....thought I would come back pick it up on another day...before leaving...I told him I would come back...and casually asked him..."are u sure there is no discount you can give me?" with a big smile on my face...

And the guy actually shouts back at me saying 'I already told you before...no discount!!" turned quite a few heads to look at me then....

Ofcourse I didnt buy the amp after that...bought a Jazz chorus and a lot of boutique pedals instead..

In this very same thread I would like to emphasise...

City Music is not even close to the best customer service...people who believe so..you guys need to go to Guitar77 or Luther Music...

And right now even Davis and Sweelee have taken service seriously(thanks subversion)

I have been a regular customer for the last few years in all these shops..and ppl on the forum have seen my rants before...but i do give credit where its due...

I walk into sweelee and a salesperson comes over immediately(smiling) and asks me how they can help me...I ask to try 4 boss pedals...the salesperson connects the four pedals without hesitation...connects them up..hands me a fender....and leaves me alone to try it...i try for around an hour...didnt like any of them...didnt buy any....the guy thanks me with a smile and puts them back...the next time i go back...I am faced by the same salesperson with the same smile....thats refreshing...Sweelee is taking customers seriously....

Davis is really improving as well...all thanks to Janet...she is one of the sweetest and most informed salesppl in singapore....and boy a hottie talking about tubes and les pauls is just something by itself...

but seriously...janet is an incredible salesperson....her mom(i think ) is very helpful as well....and the old man everyoneis talking about....is not so bad...he was very helpful when i asked him some things....gives you a straight answer...dont get discouraged by the fact that he doesnt smile

City Music has a lot to learn :P

I've always had the impression that guitar shop people are elitists, that's why I never dare to step inside

no i'm not a musician but i just like to look and touch

well, not all are bad... there some really prominent good ones... well cuz they're good and thats rare...

but there's definately room for improvements...

even if business is too good, business still can be better.. :D

hmz this sales service thingy seems to rotate around huh.. it changes from retails to retails being complained n being praised
