How to differenciate real and fake Ibanez?

Hi guys, I need some help here. Can anyone tell me how to differenciate real and fake Ibanez guitars? Where are the parts I should be looking out for? I'm buying a JEM 7V-WH from someone and need to verify is it real or a copy. I've never heard EVO pickups personally before other than Vai's videos so I won't know what a clean EVO sound like.

Thanks.

if im not wrong....evo pickups are from dimarzios... and you can tell a fake ibanez from a real one cos the real one says ibanez :D

from the ones i've seen in china, look out for:

Ibanez decal..it should be black i believe, some china fakes sport gold decals..the fakes with black decals look like shoddy, like smudged ink

look out for the headstock area where it states what series (in this case JEM)..i've seen fakes where they just write "RG series"

poor vine of life work

pickups don't say dimarzio

is there a way to really identify a pickup from a sound clip...?

Haha i doupt so unless it's on clean/not heavily processed channel AND unless the pickup has a very distinct and unique sound few others can emulate...

i believe a tonezone/airzone and an evo bridge can be more or less identified on clean to near-clean channels. OR at least, can be differentiated from those cheap kapok hand-wound pups made in china. =)

pickups don't say dimarzio

older dimarzio pickups doesnt say dimarzio on the front. older models has the dimarzio label stamped on the back with MADE IN U.S.A .

other factors of seeing a fake ibanez is the trem, test a real edge pro then test the one u are buying.

well, the best way is to trust your ears to see if the sound sounds as prestige to be the real thing.

theres a difference between a real(sounds prestigious) and fake(sounds like scrap) no matter if u dunno how the original sounds like...

Hey ed ...take a look at both our avatars at the same time :twisted:

Edder doesn't have painted face and long whiskers.
Gsonique doesn't look as funny in real life.

How to differentCiate between real and fake Gsonique/Edder? I could have been sending my pedals and guitars for repairs by the wrong dudes.

Sidetrack... excuse me!

Elvis Presley disappeared from his singing career to repair my pedals!!!

From what I know, the best way to tell a real Ibanez from a fake is through the bridge.
For instance, the JEM 7v shoudl have either an Edge Pro or Lo-Pro bridge (as should all the newer MIJ models) wheras all the fakes I have seen have a cheapo licensed Floyd Rose.

Its quite easily distinguisable once you know, do a search on google or jemsite to find out more about the Edge, Lo-Pro or Edge Pro tream. They look very different from a licensed Floyd Rose.
